What's the "V" stand for in Mercon "V"?
Do I need this in my 96 E-150 EOD?
Thanks!

You would be correct the "V" stand for 5, and there should be no reason not to use it in the E-150.

On the dipstick it states Mercon It would, since Mercon V wasn't introduced until 1998. Ford no longer licenses plain Mercon...MV is the replacement.

5, as in fifth incarnation of that formula.

Changed the fluid and filter and refilled with the Mercon V.
Plan on changing the M.M. in the near future and adding a B&M drain
plug. Is there a shift kit available for the M.M.? Also does the
torque converter have a drain plug?
Thanks for all the replies, as they are really appreciated!
Tom.
