After the rotten egg smell i had the other day i'd like a way to moniter the A/F. Before i open the box and break the seal i just wanted to know if these are accurate and plus's and minus's. I also bought and returned a sunpro dual gauge pillar that was nowhere nere or ever would be a close fit. Any ideas on what brand would be a closer fit?

Bob, you should consider this unit:

I know it is not round and wont fit in a gauge pod, but it is dead accurate, reliable and is only a 2 wire hook up; positive and negative.

I have it on the hot rod and could not be happier with it.

I too run the Autometer Wideband and found it to be the same as the pair of WBs sensors that came with the BS3. As with all wide bands, they are only as good as the sensor itself. If you run leaded race gas, then be prepared to replace them often.

The AFX gauge is nice if you just want to velcro it to the top center of your gauge cluster. Lots of racers do this so it is right in line of site going down the track and looks a lot better than a round gauge in the same position.

I'm a big fan of the AEM. I've had mine for 5 years. Almost all of the stang guys around here run them. They have come down alot in price. I've changed out 2 from autometer to AEM's. Don't get me wrong I like Autometer its just their "quality" the past few years have gone down a little bit.

Nevermind, i pulled a dum dum and didn't realize i needed a wide band. I just happened to be at the auto parts store for my father inlaws crap hyundai and saw the ultra lites on the shelf. OUCH the price that the proper ones cost!! So thanks for your replies but looks like this ones going back.

I have the Dynojet Wideband Commander. I like it, but as stated before you have to replace sensors frequently if you use leaded race gas.

Dont bother plugging the AF into the PCM. You only get an ON/OFF fucntion out of the AF input. If you want to get a legit reading, use a wideband unit, like COMMANDER or any other manufac. The primary plus of this is that , hey, you can TUNE your own car as far as AF goes, accurately. Great for blown apps.

CRC,

I'm running the Aeroforce gauge you linked to...

I love it!!...and would recommend it to anyone wanting to keep track of all your engine vitals...It has helped me identify various problems, so I could fix it myself...AWESOME!!! It paid for it's self already...

But not for the A/F function...cause it reads off the stock O'2 sensors...Our stockers are narrow band...thus not accurate enough to tune by...

Go wideband, or none at all...if you are looking for A/F gauge...

FYI, the narrow band HEGO (O2) sensor only reports whether the mixture is rich or lean compared to stoich and is used in closed loop operation to adapt trims and consequently minimize emissions (stoich is the point at which the mixture is balanced). The narrow band only measures about +/- 1 A/F, reporting a relative measure, and for boosted operations could be reporting rich when the mixture is actually too lean for your setup. If you're tuning or concerned about a lean condition under WOT, you must use a wideband, which will report an absolute number.

I am very happy with the AEM. Got it, my fuel pressure and the E-boost2 on a pillar mount. One glance for all the important stuff.

Yeah, what Red said...The hippo could be too lean, when it's supposed to be fat...The narrow band won't fit around the hippo so you need to get a wideband, or your hippo will be unbalanced...BTW: The hippo's name is stoich...LOL

Dam Red...You are a wealth of information...Thanks Again!
