Is it something to divert condensation/water away from the hot exhaust system/cats up front, so we don't hear that gurgling sound?
I don't think it's for the hood squeak. :)

Congrats "oldekid".......
Us "Old Folks" are smart.....aren't we!!
The condensate drain for the A/C runs the water BEHIND the insulation above the catalytic converter on the passenger side!!!:argue: It not only ruins the insulation over time but also causes the popping and spitting noise you hear when the water finally reaches the hot converter shield!!:shake:
Get yourself some aluminum flashing from Lowe's or where ever...cut it about 7" long and 2" wide (tapered toward the bottom) and keep it flat at the top...cup it slightly toward the bottom. Simply push it between the firewall and the air box...diverting the condensate in front of the insulation!!!
There is a bunch of sealer where you push it in and it stays in very well......it is very hard to pull out so no more sealer is necessary!!:shake:
Now to work on the trunk lip LEAKING into the trunk when you open the trunk in the rain!!!:argue::mad2:

I'll jack the car up this morning and get some shots of the installed deflector.....also see how the insulation looks since it has been DRY for a couple of weeks!!!:D
Stay tuned!!

Photos of my "Condensate Diverter" and insulation damage from constant water soaking from the A/C!!!:cool4:
The diverter I installed is a bit longer and narrower than the one in the first photo in this thread.....you can experiment with what configuration you may use??
BTW, the insulation is bone dry and will probably last a long time now!!:D
Marauderjack:burnout:
PS: I have not heard the popping or sizzling noises since the installation of this piece!!:bows:
