I was watching Turner and Hooch last night and forgot how much I love big dogs. Does anyone have a big dog here? What's it's name, how old, exc. I like all dogs, don't get me wrong, but the big dogs seem to be the most fun/playful I have ever come across.

I'm the owner of three big dogs, Father 97 lbs "Johnnie" for Johnnie Walker Black Label, cause he's black, and it's also my favorite drink, he's 1/2 shepherd & 1/2 lab. Mother 70 lbs "Sandy" for her color and shortly took her in upon my return from Kuwait "sand box", she's a typical yellow/brown lab. Daughter 85 lbs "Meg" combination of daddy and mommy, she's a heifer, polar bear white. I can see them knocking you down easily Dom, just ask Bob he's seen my heavy hitters!

I had a Pyrenean Mountain dog(Dawson). Love of my life. 160lbs of white fur. He was so smart, he could let himself out the door if he wanted (not good in the winter, he never shut the door)
I would love to have another dog that size, like a Bernese Mountain dog. I dont think I could have another Pyrenean.
I already have 3 Pembroke Welsh Corgi's and a mini Dachshund(sweet, but a total pain in the back side) So getting another dog may not be in the cards yet.
I do really love the big dogs

I've got a Australian Shepherd / Blue Healer cross. Colouring is mostly like a Rottie, and she's very thick through the chest. And a very intimidating growl. But she's all bark, no bite, unless you are a small dog.

Big cuddle monster. She's a shelter rescue too.

Here are my pups.

The little'er one we thing is a Rotty/healer mix. She looks JUST like a rott puppy but has the markings on her legs and insane energy/speed a healer does. She's 45lbs.

Both dogs were rescue dogs from the pound. We had Shelby (little) first and then got Jack about a year later. They ALWAYS stay together. If we seperate them from each other even for an our or so they both get nervous.

Hadn't seen a Great Dane or a Ridgeback in years, then low and behold saw one of each on ESPN Sunday watching one of the dog show championships. Then saw a coal black Dane with a big silver studded collar running loose on the way to work this morning. It's that time of year, those of you with unfixed dogs know what i mean.

Pyre's are nice but waaay to much hair. Had two shepard/chow mixes at separate times and dreaded when summer came.

My old landlord had a Fila Brasiliero pup named Loki. The son of a gun weighed 90 pounds before he was 5 months old.Not a breed for everybody though. They are superb with their masters and their family but those bred "old school" are not tolerant at all of strangers and must be carefully socialized or they can be deadly. To get an idea how big they can get look in this link and scroll down and see the black male sitting with the guy.It is said a male Fila killed a full grown Panther in a one on one fight when his master was attacked by the big cat.I've seen a video of a male taking down a Brahma bull by it's throat single handedly. Here's a link...http://www.filabrasileirodog.com/

What kind of dogs are these. Once upon a time i knew every kind of dog there was, thanks to a love of reading encyclopedias. Now there's so many breeds i wouldn't dare try to keep up with them. Now just take them as i come across them.

These aren't my dogs, the only ones I was familiar with both belonged to my last landlord. My family and I have had some pretty good sized Great Danes but these dogs can get huge. They don't run like other dogs either, they "camel walk",that is they move both right legs together and then both left legs together,I've seen a slightly smaller one,160 pounds leap from a standing still position to the top of a good sized refrigerator like a cat.

Had a few Labs in yrs past (great hunting dogs), and 2 Great Pyrenees (great dogs, they used to pull sleds around for the kids, and would give them "horseback" rides). Now I have 2 Golden Ret. My daughter just had a shoot with one big Great Dane. She said it made our Pyrs look really small!

Overview: Originating in the USSR, this ancient working breed was, and continues to be, utilized as a guardian of livestock against large predators such as wolves and bear. Central Asian Ovtcharka's are popular in England, Poland, and Italy. However, due to prohibition against their export, the Central Asian Ovtcharka is not well known in the United States and is difficult to obtain.

Doberman pinscher. he is by far the best Dog I have ever had, If out with the family he will never leave our side.always attentive to what is going on around him. 7yrs old and he still acts like a 2 yr old dog. again he is the best dog I have ever had. Not real stubborn like alot of Pinscher's are!!
