+1 on the 69-72 torinos.
and one a side note: i hate to say it, but at car shows, i all but ignore camaros, chevelles, tri5 chevys, etc....just see too much of them. certain monte carlos and mustangs are also in that category.
but i could easily spend 20 minutes gawking at any one of these without even getting remotely bored. i am also partial to AMC products, like this '70 rebel machine:

Either one of the two 1935 SSJ Duesenberg's. Only 2 were ever built. Both were custom built, special short wheel base, supercharged 7 liters with twin carbs, one was built for Gary Cooper, the other for Clark Gable. They're kinda pricey though,at least 8 decimal places west of the decimal point.
They had the most beautiful automobile engines ever made, rivaled for good looks only by the Harley Panhead motor and the Packard Merlin aircraft engines. The original Chrysler Firepower Hemi's would probably be second for car engines for good looks, toughness and performance.

My all time favorite is a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE with a 440 or 440 6-pack. The SE package gives it a leather interior & you could get one with power windows, cruise control, stereo & FACTORY POWER SUNROOF! Luxury & muscle.
Well I don't think many cars top Uncle Lar's pick but here's mine:
http://www.1motormart.com/gallery/71chvy03.jpg
1971 Chevrolet Impala convertible, with a 350 bolted to a 4- speed manual no a/c, red with black leather interior or http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/chevrolet-impala-1971-1.jpg
I'd settle for a 1971 Cherolet Impala Custom Coupe a 454 4speed trans, all the options, commodore blue, with black interior
T'was my first car crush, and will always hold a place in my soul. Beauty of a Cadillac, Power of a Chevy!

Wait 70 years and see what they say about our marauders then,if they're are any still around and the world ain't a cinder ash.
Killjoy,Thank You,I've never seen either of the two in person, but I sure would love to. I went to Auburn,IN for the ACD fest several times and saw a lot of Duesenbergs but never one of these.I did see the Mormon Meteor ,and it was being driven by a HOT babe with a second hottie riding with her.She was something, she took that ill handling "truck" and DROVE it,turned one corner with it,nailed it in first, hit second hard on a short straight and reined it in to make a hard 90 degree right turn without a bit of muss or fuss.I was in terminal lust,a fine one of a kind (hand built by Augie Duesenberg as a landspeed street car) auto driven by a hot babe who not only wasn't afraid to get on a several million $ car but also knew how to drive it! Now what does that say about the trucklike handling theory when a maybe 120 lb babe can take a 70 year old 3 ton car like that and make it rock and roll?
BTW,so far I haven't seen a single choice of cars on here I wouldn't like to have, they're all great.

I saw a GTO Judge at a car show and his license plate said "ALL RISE". That definitely is priceless. That GTO concept is literally the one car that could make a freight train swerve to avoid touching it. I would rather have a Pontiac Aztek in lime green.

Already have fair weather cruiser's. Too late to be "muscle" era but I have had cars from the muscle era and prefer more modern stuff that actually somewhat handles. I am very partial to the second and third gen F body GM cars. There isn't much pre 1972 that I am interested in. I could name a whole bunch of stuff 72+ that I would be interested in though.

I was surprised to the Mormon Meteor mention by Uncle Lar. The family who founded the company I work for owned the first edition of the Mormon Meteor from '59(?) until the current owner purchased it about 3 years ago.
My couple of my muscle car selections I currently own but they need work:
'70 Torino Cobra (owned since 82)
70 Mecury Cyclone Spoiler (owned since 96)
71 Torino GT convertible (owned since 94)

other Ford products, not muscle cars but I enjoy them and hope to return them all to their former glory before I'm not able.

My first car was a 64 Riviera with the 465 Wildcat (high compression 425 w "465" ft lbs of torque) under the hood..but always wanted the first Buick GS...It was a 65 Riv with those wicked clamshell hideaways... the wildcat fed by a pair of Carter AFB's...IMHO it was the first true personal luxury car/muscle car of the modern era (The Cord or Duesy's may have started it) and now my car is the last of the V8 personal luxury cars...the Marauder...
Not to hijack a thread but I'd like to know what you folks think is the most beautiful automobile??? My choice has for years been the 246GT Dino Ferrari... http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchResults.aspx?sorttyp e=1&makeid=31&makename=Ferrari&modelid=4&modelname=246%20Dino

The most powerful street legal car ever produced by GM, the 1967 L-88 427 Corvette. Listed as 460 HP, third party tests indicated 560 was more realistic.

I always considered vettes as sports cars and Mustangs/Camaros/Firebirds/Challengers/Cudas as pony cars. To me a true muscle car was a mid 60's to early 70's mid-size with a good motor. Yeah, I know I posted the 55 Chevy pic, not a true muscle car either but I just love the look of gassers.

There's a place near where I live that is a sort of showroom/consigner for classic cars and hotrods called "Automania".
It satisfies my needs, until i can one day hopefully buy one from there, and I've got my eye on a quite well-built '67 Nova B-Gasser. ;)
The first gen is my favorite. The 1953 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. The 1953 Eldorado was a special-bodied, low-production convertible (532 units in total)

Back in ancient history (early 50's), my parents and another couple took a ride to the Pocono Mountains with me (8-9 yrs old) tagging along.
They made friends with another couple, who happened to own a 49/50 Merc convertible, which, I guess, was a muscle car back then.
From that day, I was a Mercury fan, and I can still remember sitting in the back of that convert, top down, roaring down the road.
Although I did not buy the car, my first connection with a modern day muscle car was when, while test driving a 64 Tempest convertible, the salesman took out a brochure of a new Pontiac model soon to hit the showroom, the GTO.
Instead, I waited a year and bought a 65 Corvette which, for a Corvette, was a dog. It was fast, but with "just" the 327/300, 4 sp, and a sloppy 3:08 rear, it was terrible off the line, but it sure could cruise.

1969 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr Sedan, 427(390 HP), 2.56 Rear Axle Ratio, Police Package.
Drove one for 100,000+, sold it to friend who drove it another 100,000 and was T-Boned for "Total Out" because of bent frame.
Car had regular maintenance, Valve Covers were never removed.
Carburetor was changed to Holley @ 30,000 and was still working when totaled.
