Does anyone get this god awful scraping noise from the steering wheel when they turn? I've heard Ford wheels squeak before but this scaping noise is horrible. Is there anything I can spray that won't harm the plastic on the steering column?

The attachment is too large to post. If you PM me your email address I will get you the procedure right from the factory manual.

You'll need to remove the airbag then the steering wheel in order to replace it. The part is under the steering wheel. It is also called the "airbag sliding contact".

Wow, now that sounds expensive! What the price range on labor?

They're not that hard to replace I've replaced them in panthers before, just remember to disconnect battery before unplugging air bag.
It should take less than an hour for someone who knows what their doing, but I'm not sure what the "flat rate" time would be.

Pay for the plane ticket up there and back and I'll do the job.

(See the post above. It is not a hard job.)

I don't know if this is related but I've been hearing an annoying metal squeak when I turn my steering wheel, its only audible when I'm maneuvering, it might make it at speed but I just don't hear it 'cause of the music of the engine and I don't make sharp turns going that fast. Is it the same problem? If you move the steering wheel back and forth from center it makes a "e"-"er" sound.
