Anybody have any idea what this click or light knock noise is coming from the undercarriage of my MM, It happens when i turn and go over a small bump or indentation, wheels don't have to be turned for it to occur. It's driving me crazy, as this is the first foreign noise to occur on this car. Did I mention that I love this car! Thanks!

I would check your tie rod ends and sway bar endlinks. Sounds like a bushing nearing the end of its life to me.

Possible broken front coil spring?

i have the same noise.... exact same.

not broken coil spring, car handles and rides fine. just a clapping noise almost sounds like a fan clutch on and off but it only happens when going over bumps. probably the bushing is shot

Ive seen this question posted a million times here. My 04 MM did exactly what you describe. I don't have the fix and neither did the 2 different Mercury dealers I brought it to.

I had the friction material come off of the little drum parking brakes we have and that clicked around intermittently until I replaced the brake shoes on that side.

He's talking about the e-brake shoes. Definately check the sway bars end links and the control arm bushings.

Drive your car and get it hot....bring it back home and spray water from a hose over the passenger side windshield.....see if it makes the noise you speak of??

If so.....I can show ya how to fix it!!
