Fresh water? The computers, upholstery and most electronics. The wiring harness might corrode due to electrolysis and the carpet and padding may mildew. Generally, flood cars are a total loss.

Generally, flood cars are a total loss.

Agreed..... EXCEPT for Body Panels, Glass, Drivetrain (MUST be rebuilt), Wheels / Tires.

I would NEVER attemt to repair to "new" a Flood Vehicle.

I would recommend staying away from any flood vehicle ( Salt or Fresh water ).

They are an electrical nightmare as time goes on plus other issues

New Jersey - late 70's.

Had a '73 Mercury Cougar XR7. When it was cold enough outside for water to freeze none of the lights would work in the car until the interior warmed up. There was water in one of the main electrical plugs which would freeze forcing the plug apart enough top break contact........ never could fix that one......

I'd stay away from a flood car unless you are going to use it for non-electrical parts.

About 9 years ago I worked at a local salvage yard.

While there I Sawzall'd the front clip off a 4,000 mile flood damaged Cadillac Allante. I even drove it into the work bay.

This place even sold some salvaged cars and wouldn't even consider selling a flood car.

If you got room, plenty of time and money and want to build a street rod with a really different engine pull the Bentley's and rebuild it and part out the rest of the car towards covering your expenses, which would probably be pretty high as JC Whitney doesn't carry rebuild kits for Bentley's. Otherwise, forget it.
The saving grace for using the engine in a street rod is that turbo'd Bentley mill is pretty stout.I drove one in 1991 that had been "hardened",bullet resistant glass and specially heat treated armor plate and it weighed well over 4 tons and it still got up and ran.
