After my previous track experience, (see thread "terrible nite at the track") I queried DR as to what he would recommend. He asked that I ensure an adequate burn out. So I did.

It helped a little, ran consistent 13.7's with consistent 2.1 sec 60' times.
Had my son Jason, the Honda Mech, ith me and he verified that I had no wheel spin at launch. I'm wondering if that may point to the problem?

Nitrous came on as usual, boost seemed OK, no belt slippage.

I sent DR another PM with the particulars and hope that after his evaluation we can set a course of action to correct this car's performance.

One thing, there was a new Challenger at the track. They are big. But it only cut a 13.8.

Well it's back to the drawing board.

There was a Ford F-350 turbo diesel lined up with me and they are pretty quick. He took me off the line but I caught and passed him at the 1/8.
There was no way a giant truck was going to beat my Marauder even if I have to "pitt" him.

Pat, have you done a compression check on all 8 cylinders? Do you have have a Supercharger and what was the air temps? Your 2.1 60 ft times are a little weak, could you provide the the other numbers on the time sheet. It's time to put you car on the dyno and look at your A/F and torque. Could you provide you previous dyno numbers.

How much timing is in the car?

Are you running the supplied Tune, or an actual DYNO Tune?

Also, what are all of you mods?

Killjoy:

Don't know how much timimg is in, however the tune is a dyno tune done by DR at his Florida shop when he installed the Novi kit.

My mod's are PI-3500 Stall convertor, 4:10 gears, flowmaster 40's , Zex 50 shot wet nitrous system, DR Tune, Novi NOIC S/C system, 10 lbs boost, 39lb injectors, upgraded fuel pumps, custom air box with cone filter, B2400 MAF, The dyno numbers are 425 RWHP, 404 ft lbs of torque.

Pictures, dyno charts and discussion can be found on thread "up date on NOVI NOIC" in Reinhart Automotive Forum.

Pat you need to find a shop to check you A/F with a LM-1 and plug a laptop into your ODBII port or any device that you can data log from. It will be almost impossible to determine the cause without raw data. You car should be in the 12's with your listed modifications. Although I am not a fan of the DR kits you should have better real world numbers. Have you ever ran 12's with this current setup?

No Merc, I haven't done any racing with this set up until the last 30 days or so, two test and tune secessions, both had about the same results.

With my old 100 shot nitrous I was in the low 13's.

I'll run a inquiry as see if there are any shops in my geographical area that can do this. Other than a lap top with appropriate software what else may be required? 1/4 mile stretch of straight road for WOT operation?

Pat, you need some serious tune help. With all you have your car is minimum low 12's with the right tires. I don't know who in Dallas does tunes on the MM. Go to DFWStangs.com & get some names to call. Ask them if the have tuned any MM's or automatic Mach I's. My guess is that you should have an easy fix, with the right tuner. If you're up for another road trip north, we can check with Stiegemeier and with Sutton Hi Perf. I know Sutton can do it.

JB

I f you are going to be in Central OH anytime soon.... I HIGHLY recommend the guy who tuned my car.

I believe Zack has a guy in the Chicago area.

Lidio is in MI if you ever make it up there.

My guess is, it is all in the Tune.

A compression test will tell you if your engine has good compression. An engine is essentially a self-powered air pump, so it needs good compression to run efficiently, cleanly and to start easily.

As a rule, most engines should have 140 to 160 lbs. Of cranking compression with no more than 10% difference between any of the cylinders.

Low compression in one cylinder usually indicates a bad exhaust valve. Low compression in two adjacent cylinders typically means you have a bad head gasket. Low compression in all cylinders would tell you the rings and cylinders are worn and the engine needs to be overhauled.

What was your MPH?

This was taken from Pat's first thread (Terrible nite at the Track)
My ET was 14.02, my speed was 101.02, my 60 ft was 2.24, my RT was .36.

Looking at the timeslip database we have a problem Houston and it's not the tune.

I'm beginning to wonder if a SC is worth it.

Regards,

Pat, I don't want to seem doom and gloom on the subject. The problem could be very simple. The logging data will help with the diagnosis. I have a idle air problem that I have not solved since installing the new engine. I think it's the aftermarket Accufab TB. Oh the joy of upgrading is sometimes bitter sweet.

Not to worry Merc, I've downloaded the live wire for my XCal-2 and will contact a nearby SCT dealer, who happens to tune Ford cars on an in-house dyno.

I'm waiting to hear from DR on his recommendations before I do anything.

question for everyone, now I do apologize for changing the topic here but last friday I ran at the local sportspark here in cincinnati OHIO... keep in mind my car is not S/C but I do have the SCT tune, kooks headers, 4:10 gears and a full magnaflow exhaust I had a ****ty reaction time of .566 ran with my bald ass tires and I mean BALD tires and ran a 14.2 at 98.. what do you think my overall average time would be with a good reaction time?? the second run i ran a .166 R/T but could not get traction to save my life thus shifted into second way early and ran a 15.1.. so with a good reaction time and drag slicks what do you think I would be running

Reaction time doesn't dictate your final ET... reaction time matters only for your win light really... like if you and another person were to race, and both run a 14.2... but your R/T was .01 slower than his, then he would get the win light.

I think you are there with the current mods you have. slicks may help you drop a tenth or two....

ET doesn't start until your car starts moving. You could wait 10 seconds past when the tree went down and floor it, it won't affect your ET
