Ok first I have searched and read a lot of info about this. About 2 weeks ago I was going up a bridge and the tranny kept down shifting and up shifting then the OD Light began blinking. I made it home not to far and turned off the car and cranked it back up no problem. So I came in and began the search of what was going on. So tonight I was going to watch a game at the sports bar and was going up a bridge and the same thing happened. Both times were around 45-55 mph. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

It did it again today on flat road this time around the same speed. It has only happened when it was raining. I see a few people have looked at this post but I have no replies to help me.
Thanks in advance

This is exactly why Zack is needed here.

Are you accidentally hitting the button on the shifter maybe?
Otherwise I just leave the OD off until I'm over 55 anyway. Eliminates any unnecessary shifting.

if I remember correctly, the OD light acts as a sort of MIL for the transmission... indicating that you are experiencing a transmission problem..

IIRC one of the major causes of this is a bad or going bad shift solenoid. If have a way to have the DTC's read(get them checked) i bet you will have something along these lines

Your car's PCM controls both the engine and trans. The flashing OD light indicates the PCM has determined there is a problem with the trans. You need to have someone read whatever diagnostic trouble codes are present in the PCM and then troubleshoot the problem. Might be simple, maybe not...

No i am not hitting the button by accident. I have not driven the car hard since i got it last December. Do I need to go ahead and go to a dealership to get it fixed?

Depends on 3 things (1) Do you have a way to get the codes pulled (2) What level of mechanical knowledge do you have (3) depending on the code it could be a simple as pulling the trans pan and changing a solenoid or could be worse and need more complex tools and knowledge

or at least have them scan the codes and let you know whats wrong

Is it still under warranty from the dealer? It is something you should have looked at right away before anything could get worse.

No it is not in warranty. Can a dealership scan the codes for me or Auto zone? I have minimal mechanical knowledge so that is out of the question.
