Well, I left work early for lunch today to go home and get the Marauder out. After work I am taking it in to have the "clunk/thud" noise fixed once and for all as well as another oil change since it will be parked for the winter soon.

Anyway, we are enjoy some nice 50 degree weather today so nice cool air. Drove the car a little bit to get it warmed up. Then, with the Traction Control still on, I turned a corner on to a road with a slight up hill rise and 45 mph speed limit. Part way through the corner I went WOT and she got up and went. The 1-2 shift hit and the rear tires spun a little and the rear end kicked out a bit. She is definitely running well today.

Then got on it again, letting the Flowmasters breath at WOT, and again, another nice scratch on the 1-2 shift. Definitely puts the CVPI to shame...

Well, hopefully they will get the noise figured out and fixed, then the oil change done, and I am going to go ahead and put a new battery in so that who ever ends up being the new owner of this car won't have to worry about that. And that will take care of all issues the car has.

Anyway, I hope the rest of you are getting a chance to enjoy your cars. Especially those of you that park them for the winter.

I hear ya! I'm driving my '04SB just for the heck of it right now.

From November to March I'll be stuck wheeling around in my '96 Cherokee sport 2 door. The torquey 4.0 six and 3:55 gears help but it sure isn't a Marauder.

I will not be making it to Newton on Sunday. Besides having my daughter, I also have study group for school (only 2 more classes before a 3 month break from school!).

I will say it has been nice to drive the car the last couple of days. Even more so now that the weird noises seem to be fixed.

Does the feeling make you want to keep it?

So what was causing the noises?

it would make me want to keep it...
when I put it away for the salt season, I start to forget, and driving the town car is nice, and I begin to entertain thoughts of selling the Marauder in favor of a black on black 97 cartier towncar I want, and I think about it for a while, then there will be a break in teh weather, and the salt has been washed away a week or so, so I take the Marauder out for a drive and all thought of selling the thing goes out the open window... (and I begin to scheme how to have both)

Does the feeling make you want to keep it?

In some ways, yes. It is nice to drive it again and it is quite again. No more thunk noises. But alas it is a hard decision to make and it will stay up for sale. Being a single parent looking to buy a house and going back to cummuting about 100 miles round trip per day means the funds could better be used elsewhere.

So what was causing the noises?

Some of the bolts on the Metco control arms were loose. Has made this sound off and on since they were installed April '07. Finally decided it was enough since it does it quite a bit now. For the short time I have driven it since getting it back today it is not making the noise any more. They tighted all of those and checked the rest of the suspension and all looks good.
