Byron Dragway 10/19
Yesterday, a small group of Windy City Marauders assembled near Rockford Il. for some racing fun.
I got there @ track open 10 am and spotted justbob waiting in our usual spot.
Six Panther lovers were there, Five Marauders and a CV for good measure.
Temps were 65* and fair and the track seemed to be prepped to hook well.
Same hugh attendence as last time we met, Mustang club, Corvette club , Jr. dragsters(just a few), lots of bikes, Pro street cars etc.
I was there from 10-5 to get three runs and two new personal bests.
First I want to thank justbob for letting me try his Mickey Thompson DR's for the first two passes I made.
This required the Tire/wheel switch, to be on my car for several hours .
Bob did not even take one pass all day, he said, "I got my twelve second time slip".
Bob also assisted me, in removing the drivers side headlamp.
Ok so the new bests;
Both runs on the Mickey "T's" went 13.1 with the second run a 1.80 60' NICE!!!!
The most encouraging thing was, this was all achieved in 20-25 mph head wind.
The first race I lost to a modified WRX than ran 12.6 the second race was a red Mustang convert 2004 body style, it ran 14.7
The last run was back with the stock tires and that was really bad as my rears are shot.
The wind gusts were so strong, the Pro street cars did not run in the later afternoon.
There was a girl, racing a bike in the low sevens, last time she was there when she made it to the semis' the dude she was supposed to race against "dropped out".

The announcer was brutalizing the poor schmuck, for not growing some Kajones and race her.
All in all a great day, two MM fellows that were there, are not active posters on the forums.
So thanks go to Jerry Barnes, for several people came by the stagging lanes asking if the Marauder came stock that way, as they stared at the motor like they were in a trance LOL!
Thanks to Lidio for the reliable/consistant tune.
Bob, again for the Drag radials and to the members for partisipating.
I really wanted to race a kool guy with an orange 2009 Dodge Challenger 6.1.
His best was 13.2 @108 but we never got paired up together.

I will never go back to that track again! They can't handle the volume. That being said see ya there next spring.

I would've sat there enjoying a couple of cold ones, watching and listening to all those beautiful cars.
