Is this a good time to buy a new car?

I am really really thinking about it. If my truck has to be sold I was thinking of keeping the money, saving and leasing a new Dodge Challeger SRT8 manual. I have never leased a car before nor do I know anything about what they want down or anything. I was thinking if I save up $5,000 or so would that work for money up front and a few payments?

I have no idea if they will lease to a 23 year old (that's what I'll be when I can afford it, if it's that easy) or what? I heard they are all sitting, no one can buy a new car right now. The style really grew on me. Times are rough and I might be able to take advantage of this before the cars go out of production. I don't want to get a Challenger down the line that been messed with or needs a ton of work because they will all be used in the matter or years... I don't see this car being made for more than 2 more model years, if that.

I can only imagine that dealers are on their knees looking to get cars out the door. The Marauder would stick around and probably will for the rest of my life like my K5.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, why not. Oughta be able to pick up some real deals out there. Lots of discounts and incentives to move the stale inventory. Assuming that you can find a bank or credit organization with money to lend.

I say wait. The market sucks right now and yes you probably would have leverage on the dealers right now. But with the economy like it is now do you really want a car note.
