Just wondering if any of the folks in Florida have suggestions for neat places to see and things to do that might not be so "touristy"? My girlfriend and I are heading down around the 20th of December to pick up the Marauder and would like to take a week or so enjoying anything that isn't disneyland. We were hoping to do the Kayak thing in the everglades but that is already booked up. :(
Anyting outdoors and intersting would be our cup of tea.
Of course, all suggestions will be vetted by GF and possibly vetod as well. But, I thought I'd ask the people who might know best.
I also hope that there might be an opportunity for a drag night or autocross to try out the new Vortec, but that is a bit of a stretch at Christmas, I suppose.

We have a new track opening up, supposedly Nov. 8. It used to be Moroso but is now going to be named Pam Beach International raceway. Great place to test out your new Vortech, I know I'll be testing mine. LOL

its too long to repost.. so http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=47883

I don't want to hijack your thread either. We were going to drive down and visit family in the panama area. I was trying to convince the boss to take a swing by DR's shop as well.

Maybe next year.

Sorry I'll miss you, but more sorry that you will miss the trip. The bright side is that you can see it happening next year.
I'd love to check out a track - especially one with "international" in the name. That means its extra special, right? :)

Keep us posted on whether or not you make it down to South Florida.

BTW, are the airboat rides taken, too?

Hoping to spend one day with DR getting oriented, then touring pretty much anywhere in Florida that is interesting but not tourist trappy. This mean anywhere is game if it doesn't have mouse ears.
PS
Couldn't find "Stuckuppityburgh Heights, FL" in google maps. ;)

NO, the Casino has slot machines, card tables, restaurants, and such.....The Blackmobile just has an in box, and a compactor feature....you put things in, like money, parts, & gas, and then you step on the go peddle and it all gets forced into the trunk for safe keeping.

Hhahhahahha... brought back memories...
Dad and I come around a bend of mangroves in the boat and there's a group of female kayaker's along the edge all throwing their tops back on as we cruise by..... funny.... they were all female.... not a guy among them... and they was half nekkid.... makes a guy wonder.....

Snook fishing is the best in the back country.....

I suggest The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL

1 South County Road
Palm Beach, FL 33480
(561) 653-6355

I go there every January for the Cavallino Classic and I really dont think they care If you just walk in and just look around the place and marvel at tapestries, sculptures and paintings and how eerily bright blue the water is behind the breakers.

Just to give you an Idea of how pretty The Breakers is...

The Cavallino Classic is a show where they see how many Ferraris they can fit on 18th hole at the Breakers and I still end up gawking at that hotel at some point every year I go.

Their is The Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood which is a really cool place to go. Their is South Beach for Dinner, Dancing & Drinks always a good bet. Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale with the many Resterants and Little shops which the women always love.Their is Parriot Jungle in Miami with the cool animals & show's. Miami Sea Aquarium in Miami for the Sea Life shows. Their is the Air Boat Ride's in the Everglades at the west end of Griffen road .Their is the Old Moroso Race Way opening up real soon in Palm Beach. You could always stop by theTower Shops in Davie on a Friday evening and hang with the group and go too dinner with us.Their is many other things to do and see down hear also.

Check out St. Augustine! It's the nations oldest city. It's about an hour from DR's shop and an hour from Daytona. Got a real cool fort and the town has kind of a Chaleston SC flair. It has your touristy stuff (the alligator farm for instance) and it has a bunch of state parks with areas to hike, kayak, etc.

You can thank BigCars4Ever for this one. You could check out the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum in Ocala. I doubt that there are any "Mouse Ears" there.

REally good suggestions! THanks much for these. Based upon the pricing over the holidays and the fact that Jo and I are trying to consolidate our households, we are thinking of pushing this back a month or two. The suggestions you've offered up don't appear to be "time limited" offers, though, so they'll be acted upon to be sure.
I would LOVE to get together for a tower night dinner just to see everyone. Would be most cool. My dad would love to be there to see all of those Marauders, but long distance travel is completely out for him these days. We'll take lots of pictures, though.
