"Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black."

I though I heard a Heavenly version of "I Walk the Line" earlier, maybe even a duet. Now I know.

from fark:
[05:28] [The_Bob_Talbot] Cash is kicking satan's ass
[05:28] [The_Bob_Talbot] right now
[05:28] [The_Bob_Talbot] It's awesome.
[05:28] [The_Bob_Talbot] and all like "**** you ****er"
[05:28] [The_Bob_Talbot] and then he takes over Hell
[05:30] [DreamSerpent] i dont buy it
[05:30] [The_Bob_Talbot] I do.
[05:31] [The_Bob_Talbot] Dude, Cash passing from this world was SO POWERFUL, it made John Ritter's heart explode.
[05:31] [The_Bob_Talbot] That's my theory.
[05:32] [The_Bob_Talbot] I'm sure more folks will turn up dead
[05:32] [The_Bob_Talbot] ONCE THE ****ING SMOKE CLEARS BABY
[05:32] [The_Bob_Talbot] Cash went off like a ****ing atom bomb
[05:32] [The_Bob_Talbot] that is what I heard
[05:33] [The_Bob_Talbot] and then his flaming black soul shot into space
[05:33] [The_Bob_Talbot] Believe it.
[05:35] [The_Bob_Talbot] Dude the reason Cash was against Vietnam is because IN HIS GREAT ****ING WISDOM he KNEW that it was a waste of resources to go all the way around the planet to kill folks
[05:35] [The_Bob_Talbot] when there are plenty of mother****ers to kill
[05:35] [The_Bob_Talbot] RIGHT HERE
[05:35] [The_Bob_Talbot] MY GOD PEOPLE
[05:36] [The_Bob_Talbot] JOHN WAYNE ISN'T DEAD, HE'S FROZEN
[05:36] [The_Bob_Talbot] and when we find a cure for cancer we're gonna thaw out the duke
[05:36] [The_Bob_Talbot] And that will be a day of reckoning to be WITNESSED BROTHER
[05:37] [The_Bob_Talbot] I hope you hippies are taking notes.
It is truly a sad day here in Nashville.
Those left behind are richer for his time here wth us.
In tribute, I've been playing Johnny Cash non-stop this morning in my office. (The Madison Square Garden and San Quentin albums.)
This day had been coming for a long-time, especially after June passed away. We knew his death was inevitable, but we regret it anway.

Good-bye and godspeed to The Man in Black.

My regards go out to the family, but I must say that I laughed quite a bit at Gavin's - the fat bastid - post

I too, chuckled over Fat's post, but for quite another reason.
No way in Hell John Cash ever expressed those feelings.
Funny, ain't it. How one person says one thing, and someone else makes those words read, and mean, something entirely different than what was meant to be said by the speaker.
Not much different from posting here, eh?
David Janssen, playing a Deputy Sheriff, has to run down some rail road tracks, to the tune of "Ring of Fire."
This is what sold me on John Cash.
"Boy Named Sue?," was just another radio gimick tune...IMHO.
IMHO...
Rest in peace John Cash.
How many Hombres are left?

Aw Sarge,
Tell me it ain't so. :(
Shel Silverstein wrote Boy Named Sue. Most people probably best remember his poetry & cartoon books, like "Where the Sidewalk Ends" or his cartoons in Stars & Stripes or Playboy magazine.
Where the Sidewalk Ends (1974) was banned in some school libraries (N.Dakota) because it was believed to undermine parental, school and religious authority. That's the kind of vindication every author strives to get, but so rarely achieve.
And he was a Chicago native! (Come on support the home team!) :D
