It is truly a sad day here in Nashville.
Those left behind are richer for his time here wth us.

In tribute, I've been playing Johnny Cash non-stop this morning in my office. (The Madison Square Garden and San Quentin albums.)

This day had been coming for a long-time, especially after June passed away. We knew his death was inevitable, but we regret it anway.

No way in Hell John Cash ever expressed those feelings.

Funny, ain't it. How one person says one thing, and someone else makes those words read, and mean, something entirely different than what was meant to be said by the speaker.

Shel Silverstein wrote Boy Named Sue. Most people probably best remember his poetry & cartoon books, like "Where the Sidewalk Ends" or his cartoons in Stars & Stripes or Playboy magazine.

Where the Sidewalk Ends (1974) was banned in some school libraries (N.Dakota) because it was believed to undermine parental, school and religious authority. That's the kind of vindication every author strives to get, but so rarely achieve.

And he was a <i>Chicago</i> native! (Come on support the home team!) :D
