I guess they caught on over the years that we own Marauders, not Grand Marquis'. When I bought my 03 in 03, the insurance card read "2003 Mercury Grand Marquis" and the insurance was cheaper back then! I don't get it. I was 27 then, 32 now and my insurance dropped a ton when I turned 30. Anyway, I call my insurance man today and give him my vin. He says, "Woah, Hoss. You better sit down." I was sitting. I should have been sitting on the toilet, because I just about crapped myself when he told me the price. Good Grief! To insure my "new" 03 Marauder it costs almost 150.00 more every six months than it did 5 years ago when I was younger. My driving record is about the same. 1 ticket in the last 3 years. Any of you original owners experience a jump in your rates once they caught on to the "Marauder" name?

thats dumb, what crazy insurance company are you using? My car ATM is cheap to insure right now, due to all the safety features.

EricWhat insurance co. are you using? My StateFarm agent knew on June 26, 2002, when I purchased mine , from the VIN that my 2003 Grand Marquis was a Marauder. My premium has always been in the low $200/half yr. Last statement was for $196/half.

Very reasonable.

I made sure they knew I had a Marauder. Wouldn't be any fun if I needed Marauder parts and got Grand Marquis parts. Seriously, to save a few bucks at the risk of being denied on a claim for willfully misrepresenting your vehicle doesn't seem to be worth it. I'm not a fan of insurance companies, but I do believe in doing the right thing.

I pay more for my wife's 2001 ZX3 Focus than I do for the MM. Worse yet, the ZX3 is listed with a "performance" rating! :shake: I can't discuss this around the MM....I'm afraid it'll kick the stuffing out of the ZX3 in the middle of the night.

Mine was listed as a grand marquis for about a month thru state farm. They claimed i had a digit in my vin that the computer said didn't exist so it kept coming up as a gm. After numerous calls to headquarters and apparantly Mercury they were able to come up with it. And no it didn't change in price.

We had a ZX3 as a demo car here and the rates were crazy on it. They consider it a performance car!

I'm less than $200/6 mo for 100/300/100 coverage with Farmers. they always knew it was a Marauder.

(no tickets that affect my record, and 40 yrs old. possibly the only bennie to getting older)

No tickets/crashes, 40+ YO, 5 vehicles insured plus my house, SF gives out discounts, my 05' LX Sport, I just got the statement, $316 every 6...... go figure.

State Farm bases rates on the amount of paid claims, i.e., low amount of MM's in my area (Ohio), low claims = low premium. My cargo van is the same way, it's less than $200 every 6 with the same coverages, nobody apparently fixes damaged cargo vans (because all the one's I see are beat to hell).

But, after claims from the last wind storms, apparently all rates will be going up..... so I am told.
