Considering acquiring a 2nd vehicle; for a variety of reasons it would need to be a pickup. Will NOT be hauling or towing anything heavy. Consider a 2008 F150 with a V6 (some ads here in Detroit have for 11K) Or I can do a a Silverado because of GM special family deal ongoing. Thoughts? Or go used? Trying to keep under 13k Maybe someone knows of a great deal ????

Ford is # 1 in pick- ups.
I drive a 1995 F-150 short bed I got in Aug. of '07 with only 50,000 on the clock:)
Garage truck to boot!! I would look for a used one first, unless you feel the need for new.
I just had a 2007 F150 w/ 6 cyl and 17,000 miles, for a loaner for 3 weeks from my dealership. It was a base work truck, I missed the cruise control and power windows and locks (and extended cab!). Otherwise I would have had no reservations about buying that truck. Good luck finding a low mileage one.

The deals are out there Brother Mike.
I vote Ford, I'd pick a used Ford over a new Chebby!
Why do you think Chevy is in such a :censor: ?

If I was in the market for a used p/u, I would look for a used Harley Davidson F150 as those are my favorites... I would definitely go FORD either way though. Good luck!

I know you said you are trying to keep it under 13k but if you took out a loan for around 19k you could drive away with a very nicely equipped 2008 F-150, Dodge Hemi Ram or Chevy/GMC. I own an 05 "Lone Star" ("Big Horn" everywhere else) Dodge (my only Mopar product ever) and have been very pleased with quality/performance/capability. Came with the hemi engine, bedliner, nice wheels/tires as a package and all the US truck manufacturers offer a similar package. It gets around 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway which isnt too bad and is the most comfortable riding vehicle I own. If you buy a stripper v6 model full size truck you lose lots of capability and the economy isnt that much better. Id recommend you find a way to get a few more bucks and get a nicely equipped Ford/Dodge/Chevy/GMC.

Drive your Marauder, it has a lot of life left in it!
As far as a truck, buy one that's running!

Obviously on this site most people are going to plug Ford. Chevy males a very good truck. Do not get a V-6 in a full sized pickup. It will be a dog and you will not be happy with it. In the long run it does not get much better mileage either (sometimes worse) because you are always "in it" to get the thing going.

Most everyone has seen my '02 F-150. I changed oil this morning w/ Mobil-1 and the speedo is @ 120,000 mi. It's a 4.6/5sp and has the original clutch. The brakes/rotors have been replaced at 100K and the spark plugs along with 5 of the coils. It now has Koni shocks. Otherwise, other than oil & filters there have been O problems. No, wait, there was a plastic module thingey that did some sort of emissions crap that quit, once. I highly recommend the F-150, but like the 4.6 motor. :twocents:
