Is mixing regular with octane booster safe?

Probably not, but I have to ask.

I got a road trip coming up and Im wondering how Im going to deal with those gas stations that sell only regular or sell premium 50 cents per gallon more expensive than regular

My question is, if I just fill up with regular and put in an octane booster, will that keep my engine from knocking?

OTC octane boosters are a scam and a waste of money. When they say that they raise the octane of a fuel from 4-7 points, what they really mean is 4-7 TENTHS of an octane number. IOW, if you put a can of that stuff in a tank of 87 octane, you'll get between 87.4 and 87.7 octane. DON'T do it.

They're also good at fouling spark plugs, too. Ask my '68 Buick GranSport.

IMHO, search the discount travel sites and get a rental car like a Grand Marquis. It'll save you from worrying about your Marauder and keep the wear and mileage off her.

Although it seems kinda frivolous to rent a car when one owns such a fine highway car as the Marauder, but I agree with Steve^^^. I find I'm much more relaxed with a rental because I'm not always worrying about something happening to the MM when I'm a long way from home...

There is no problem finding premium fuel and good stations like BP, Shell, Mobil, ect. I went all the way to Florida and had no problems at all. And i agree with the octane boost statements, the information is misleading as it says 4-7 points making one think you go from 89 up to 93-96 octane when it is less than one octane. And besides there is no other car i would take on long road trips, perfect seats for long hauls, set the cruise, listen to the tunes or the exhaust (like me) and enjoy the open roads!

if your just cruzing and ABOSOLYLTY have to just put regular in it. itll be fine SO LONG as you dont get into the rpms. not recomending this just saying it will run

Driving from Panama City, FL to Winter Park, FL for the winter park concours. Driving back in the same day. about 750ish miles.

I Think what Im going to do is find a gas station that will undoubtedly have premium in Ocala and fill up there before getting on the turnpike.

exactly what i did, if it looks like you are going to be in bfe for a while (So. IL, KY, TN) then dont go under 1/2 tank. plan ahead and watch the map for large cities that will have large stations

Just about every gas station in KY at least has 91 if not 93.

True. I researched them a while back on here and found that they are nothing reall but hype.

I found that Blue Thunder ran worse with "octane boost" added to fuel.
