If I had a job I could tell ya.

The years I did they never wanted me in for anything anyway. Heck they didn't want me in the first place! :D

I had my birthday off this year, because I was in between jobs, and the military couldn't take it away this time ;)

If the opportunity is there to take off, why not? This is year I will request it off, if the answer is no, then no... it is!

My birthday means nothing to me. It's just another day.
I am not so important in the big scheme of things to celebrate the day of my insignificant appearance as a blip in time.

Besides, what is a birthday?
One more year closer to being DEAD!!!!

Why worry about it?

Jeeze Rich, you are morbid! It's a day where people appreciate you (well, sometimes) and everyone should enjoy their birhtdays.

I am still fortunate enough to be able to thank my mother for my birthday and tell HER to take the day off. When you have had as many birthdays as I have you would think she would be tired of hearing it...but she isn't and I am not tired of thanking her. Other than that I try hard to pretend that they are not very important and refuse to let the weight of them slow me down. Dennis:beer:

This past year, my company started giving everyone an additional Floating Holiday during the month of their Birthday. It can be used on that exact day or any day during that month. It is great for a 3 day weekend if you like and everyone has been really happy with it. My B-Day is coming up on the 19th and I will be enjoying it in the Virgin Islands... :rasta:

Yeah, tough day today. Good family friend died overnight. Even though she'd been sick a long while, I'm gonna miss her bad until I see her again, hopefully.
Her husband married Michelle and I.......

Since my B-Day is a few days after Christmas, I always end up taking it off... Moreso for a week at the holidays, rather than because it's my birthday...

Exactly! I'd rather save the day off for the important things, rather than complain because I don't have any personal/vacation days left.

Mine's Christmas Eve. It's never been very important to me because Christmas is far more important. (and festive) I take the day off whenever possible because being of Danish desent, Christmas Eve is celebrated with family and friends, a special meal and the exchanging of gifts followed by church at midnight.:)

I've never worked on my Birthday in the 12yrs I've been employed with my current job. It comes out of my vacation time but I use the day for some me time.

If you work, do you call in sick or take holidays so that you get the day off, or maybe your work place has it such that your birthday is an official day off.

Or just relax and have the day off from the normal stuff if you don't work or whatever...

So do ya?

I take 8 hours paid time off for my birthday.
I have to celebrate being here to justify the rest of the year.
