Got rear-ended tonite. Any recommended high quality body shops in Fairfax area??

What are your wild $$ guesses - right quarter slightly buckled, trunk trash, rear bumper trash, both tail lites, right exhaust maybe. Quite driveable.

At least he has good insurance !!!

That is going to cost a lot. I'm guessing you are in the $3,000 range. A geuine OE bumper cover (just had one replaced) costs around $250 for a body shop to purchase direct from Ford (It's twice this for a counter sale). I'm sure they will use an LKQ decklid and quarter if it's not fixable. Precision Collision in Springfield/Lorton is extremely high priced but is supposed to be excellent. They quoted me $600 just to spot repair a quarter sized buff through in the clear on a front fender and to re clear it. I couldn't stomach the price for the amount of work, although the not all that much less expensive other shop in Silver Spring MD I ended up having do the work was a horrible and incredibly time consuming disaster experience, so that one bit me in the a ss.

Carcraft in Springfield did a really ****ty job on a bumper cover on my friends few week old Altima when it was hit. It had sand scratches visible and had solvent pop in the clear. They are supposed to be good but that job had to be brought back for a re do, it was pretty bad. I didn't get to see what the re do looked like.

Best Autobody in the van dorn area is inexpensive and does mediocre work. I saw a newer Mustang that Best had painted and it looked like a passable quality job but there was a curtain of runs that ran the entire length of the lower part of the door that they did not bother to sand and buff out.

I was gonna give a guess in the $3500-3800 range. Had my son's car repaired at Carcraft in Springfield (on Backlick Road north of Pohanka Chevrolet) about 4 years ago. Overnight security there sucks 'cause someone ripped out his stereo system while it awaited repairs. Carcraft covered it; but the incident didn't give me a warm and fuzzy about care and quality.

Decided on Cherner L/M in Tysons. Very spacious lot unlike other shops I looked at, and the rental car place is down the hall. They did a very nice job, excellent mechanical work, paint just very good though. Life time warranty so if I decide to have them repaint in the future, I have that optiion.

Sorry about your bad luck. Not to sound like a vulture but if you only need one new Megs delete tip, I have one for sale.

Try again,
Just off the top

the Rear bumper is 1k
The rear panel is 300 bucks
Trunk lid is 400 spoiler? add 300
the muffler tip will be a bear to find unless Merc stocks them
Exhaust damage 300
buckled quarter = chassis pull (check the roof for buckles as well)
rear impact absorber pair 120
rear impact plate 60
tail lights
Labor
parts disposal fee
Paint/primer/supplies

These are very rough estimates, but everything on these cars that is special is mucho $$

I bet its over or between 5-6k to repair

That's almost the exact damage done to my Marauder 2 years ago...
No drive train damage at all, just body work...
Cost...$7,000.00

The liftetime warranties are not always what the sales people preach them to be, it is up to the shop and ultimitely the shop manager's discretion as to whether or not the repair is unsatisfactory enough to be repaired. I have been there done that at a shop that I brought the repair back multiple times. Some shops 5 years down the road will totally repaint for stone chips that aren't even their fault, to keep a customer, and some won't repaint a panel w/ obvious defects if it's "up to their standard" of being done to an industry standard level of quality. I guess you'll find out if you ever need the "warranty" honored
