Well I called Ford and talked at length with a really polite gal who put me on hold several times and called my dealer direct...
She told me to call my dealer back and the tires will be available...!!!!
Called my dealer and now he says "no problem", just come by and place an order in person and they will have the rear tires for my Marauder in 3-4 days...!!!
So I will keep y'all posted ... I'm headed to the dealer now...

Yupper. I just got a ticket for bald rear tires. ("Both Rear Tires") Hard to 'fix-a-ticket' when the parts are not available.
I just put the snow wheels/tires on though. Guess Ford/BF didn't think we might get tickets.

Yah...never believe the dealer when they say they will have the tires "in a few days". I drove on the donut very carefully for nearly two weeks after a screw punched through the sidewall.
However, that being said, when Tire Rack shows plenty in stock, buy 'em! I have ordered from them twice and had quick delivery both times.

That would be great but some of us drive in snow.

Called dealer Monday ... said he "could still get tires" ... "just didn't know when"......and oh by the way there will be an increase in price to $200.00 each and an addtional $25.00 per tire for shipping...
I really wanted to tell him where to place tires...but I didn't...still have to deal with them for service...:(
I'm having two new Michelins installed today...
Oh well I gave it the best shot I could...

IMO, I think you'll be happier with the replacement tires than BFG's.
Let us know how the Michelins work out for you.

Make sure you get the alignment done per Carfixer's specs.
Here's the word I got from BF Goodrich -
"Thank you for your email. We welcome the opportunity to serve you.
Unfortunately, the G-Force KDWS 245/55ZR18 will not be available until the
first quarter of 2009."
Hope it's before my inspection is due end of January. I'm near 20K on this set of rears keeping them at 35psi; the last pair were bald at around 15K. Be careful out there!

There is a huge selection out there for 255/55r18's that should work. Revs/mile come close, within 5-10, which should not effect speedo or abs light. Unless others on here no different, since I haven't owned one or tried it, but do work on them (and other Fords) for a living.

I wanted bigger any way, but I bought Continental's, from Tire-Rack, 420-A-AA, rated Z speed. 285/50/18's were only $132, they offer 265/55/18's.

I was planning on it... that's what started this whole thing...ebvidently front right got out of alignment and wore out the inside edge of the tire...to the cords...!

Revs/mile come in at about 10 less and the speedo error is under 1 MPH at 60 MPH.

On Saturday, the dealer said he would have the tires in a day- I warned him that Tire Rack said they were on backorder. The dealer price-shocker- $190- But I need them. Turns out- picked up the car today (Wednesday) no tires. Knucklehead tells me they sent the fronts.
As far as I know the 245/55r18 are on backorder everywhere.
Looks like the Nitto's are the tire. Im on Long Island and the car is a daily driver (88k) and was wondering how the Nitto's and the Goodyears hold up in the winter and in the rain?

Everyone says the Nittos are no good in the snow. Thats just what I have heard.

Neither the 420s nor the GS-D3 are snow tires. You're better to have a separate set of Winter and Summer rims/tires as all seasons are a compromise that aren't great for either condition.

I have ran into this prolem in the past. According to my friend who runs a tire store BFG only makes the rear tires in one run early in the year (if there is enough demand) and that's it for the year. That's why they always seem to be on backorder. The prices are only going to keep going up as there are not that many cars using this size, and almost none using the BFG.
For those of you who switched to other brands, I am going to assume you have no probs with ABS issues or speedo if staying with the same size rear, so I am going to look into that whne it gets to be tire time again.
