ok here is my question guys! Iam going to go ahead and get a 2nd motor started for my Marauder! What do you guys think is better I can get a used stk motor for 500.00(someone I know) and disassemble and bore and port polish the heads to my own specs w/ all good inner parts and get the parts at good prices. What do you guys think is cheaper finding a already machined and put together big bore motor and just swaping all my hardware or doing it the 1st way were I get a used motor take apart and get all my nesc porting and machine work and build myself? Iam wanting to build this motor to be able to withstand alot of abuse and BOOST. Maybe like a 5.3 Big Bore this has probably been discussed on here before and if so Iam sorry. Other than the laast 2-3 months it has been a couple years since I spent alot of time on here. any suggestions guys would be great! hopefully what I said makes sense. Also are the blocks in our cars a good block or should I not even think about using our type block??? Dunno SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!

My recommendation is to leave it alone and enjoy it as is.
If you can go click off an 11 second pass and it be reliable, you are ahead of the game.

The engine you are proposing to build will cost about $10k when its all said and done.

Then you will upgrade to a T or JT Trim blower +$1000
Then the fuel system: $500-700
Then the transmission: $2000

If you insist on upgrading, buy the Aluminator, add 4-6psi and call it a day.

Fah!

Buy the donor and ship it to Al Papitto, write the check, and call it a day.

I understand that Zack but you tell me being one of the people having worked on this car or maybe I'am wrong it is pushing 13.5 lbs boost??? I beleive that is what Steve told me and if that is the case how long at that amount boost do you think this motor will last with the weaker internals? I have always heard that anything over 9-10 lbs is about as safe as you can go I dont know? youre 2-cents as for the aluminator gotta linky. let me know youre thoughts.

Thanks Todd :beer::beer:

Also labor is not one of the huge issues trade a couple of overall real paint jobs will help cover alot of the labor a real complete paint job approx 5000.00
and that would be doing it at my shop at home and just using my paint booth at work on a weekend for the final ! bardering!!! trade, trade. ;);)

When I last had the car on the Dyno, it made a maximum of 10.2 PSI of Boost at the VERY top end (6500 RPM).

Steve, I must have misunderstood you I thought you stated it was at the edge pushing 13.5 lbs. I see that is not the case but if it was I would be looking at good internals.
I have enough people here in STL that owe me some big favors. I guess I might just stick to spending my stang $$$ on the AMG the wife wants!

The Boost levels ARE on the edge. The power numbers are BEYOND the edge. However, the tuning of the car is VERY safe. There is a LOT more power that can be had by adding Timing. I would not do this UNLESS the bottom end is built up.

OK, mine as stock took 12 lbs of boost quite well. My only issue was cylinder 7 & 8 took a nose dive due to the heat of the engine caused by, no rear cooling mod, and it had 125K miles on it. If you take Rich's suggestion and give it to Al Papitto, he can build you a monster of an engine for a good price. I will warn you , your tranny will take a beating unless it's built up.

Ed if I do something it is going to be all at once!! but as I stated before the wife wants a new car mercedes c55 AMG so Iam probably better to get her a ride before I do this anyhow. I just know from talking to several builders here in STL thay have all recomended to build that motor. My KB with only 9.5 boost dropped a valve at 29,xxx miles on it.I know it was one of the very early ones but still I know the Charger or the not so good tune from KB were a good part of the cause. ie hitting rev limiter 1st 2 times I ran at the TRACK?????? I would like to get a rear cooling kit but going that far I will go the rest of the way. I have had 6 diff fox body stangs 3 charged all good internals ran one upto 230,000 miles and 13 lbs boost & 100 shot of juice never a problem with a tremec 3550 5 spd behind it.So Iam going to take my time whatever I decide it will be done right. Iam kinda thinking about finding a high mileage Marauder and building a monster N/A car??? I need to take my time and decide what to do. Ive got this irratating itch in my side to do something wild but nice and tasteful. like other rides I have built all tasteful and nice. I should post some pics of my other rides!!!!!
