Is the key bent? For how much they want for the job go elsewhere like another dealer or a locksmith who will come to you.

List price for the lock cylinder is $213.07. The dealer across from me charges $32 to code the keys. Hope this helps.

Does a second key have the same issues?
This would be My 1st question The Ford focus has a similar problem in some it is actually a problem in the ing cylinder. But again you have already probably done this but the question about the 2nd key how does it work? The same ? I would try my best to seek out the problem 1st ,some service depts just want to start replacing things (until fixed) rather than seeking out the real problem.

Thank you all for your help. I have told my daughter to price out the lock cylinder first then to find a good locksmith to have it installed. I am about 800 miles from Atlanta so anyone knows where she could have this done I would really appreciate it. She lives in Ellenwood just south of Atlanta.

I had the problem with the Marauder a few years ago. I dropped a coin inside the shifter and couldn't get the car to fully go into park. Where is the shifter?

I worked for a rental car co. a while back and the cheby classics and aveos had that issue alot. We had to use some force to slam the gear selector into park a few times to get the keys out. But it would always happen again some time down the road. we always took it to the dealer for a fix and I am not sure what that fix was.

Have the Park Lock Cable adjusted before you go to a locksmith. G M doc. PIC3545A
