today i got bored at work and decided to put new plugs in all three of my cars, when i got to the last cyl on the passenger side on the MM, i found out why the car had a miss at times, low power at WOT, and a hesitation on WOT, the cylinder was full of water, the plug rusted and the coil and the solid core connector all rusted. took some emery cloth we had at the shop, removed all rust and replaced all 8 plugs.put a dab of sealer at rear of coil cover and test drove. felt like a different car. i had been putting off diagnosing this problem for about 3 months now, since i bought the truck and was loosing interest in the MM. im just glad it only cost me (8) 1.99 spark plugs. these plugs have been in there for 2yrs/12k miles

had the same thing happen on my last one! was a very slight miss when I say very slight. Most peoeple would probably not have noticed mine did not even have a miss at times. I did not think anything about it until I did a plug change that is when it was found. It was that slight.

You scared me at first! I thought you were talking about the more important cylinder on the other end of the plug!

gmtech I feel sorry if you had enough time to change all the plugs in all of your cars while at work... sounds like business is slow.

Glad to hear the car is ok now.

the local L/M dealer closed up last month. 35-40 sales and techs out of work, and a great parts counter gone.

I'm told that the owner (who also sold jeeps) saw the questionable future of Chrysler/jeep, and the even more questionable future of Lincoln/Mercury without Towncars and Grand Marquis' and called it quits. the current special order status of the towncar hurt sales, (it was the main cash cow) and the seriously uninteresting current lineup wasn't helping.

at my store I'm usually seeing folks looking for work in t-shirts, needing haircuts and a shower, now I'm having guys in suits asking for apps... not a good sign
