Why on earth would you get rid of a Marauder for that?
I could understand a winter truck, but a trade?

I never was a fan of the Mountaneer. The interior and exterior is just too bland looking.

2006 was an odd year for the interior grab handles for the doors. That changed gradually in 2007 and 2008. You'll know when you see and try it. Plus, this definitely does not have a rear LSD. Here is the sticker: http://fordlabels.webview.biz/webviewhybrid/WindowSticker.aspx?VIN=4M2EU48 806UJ14863&ref=VL
I would look at this one again that you showed me.

It may not be a true Roush stage 3 but it has the charger, wheels, roll n lock, rhinoliner, and ventshields. Look at the sticker:

I have a 2008 Mountaineer Premier (4.6L 3V) and the grab handles are identical to those pictured in the 2006.
It appears that the interiors and exteriors on both model years are identical.
The issues I have after 12 months and 7000 miles are:
Annoying popping noise in the blend door every time the compressor cycles.
Corroded center caps on all 4 rims.
Annoying clicking noise in the gear shifter while in Park position when stepping on the brake pedal.
Annoying rattling noise in the brake calipers.
To date, I am underimpressed with the Mountaineer.
Nuff said.

Maybe the Explorer only has the inner door grab handle problem.

I'm pretty sure I have the same things with my ranger. Everytime the compressor cycles it makes a stupid noise...
what kind of click noise is it? I know mine does it, but it's actually the brake light switch that clicks
Adam...don't do it. That 150 looks nice...but I'd rather have a lightning...

I know the 06 Explorer has the grab handle.
I don't know about the 2007/2008 model years.
At first, I thought the door grab handle being on the front end of the armrest was somewhat awkward, and a bit of a reach, but have become used to it.

The clicking noise sounds similar to that made by the spool in a electrical solenoid when energized or de-energized...the sound telegraphs into the gearshift/console and can be felt when one's hand is on the gearshift.
Perhaps it is the fault of the brake light switch...nobody knows !
All the issues with the Mountaineer have not been remedied by the L/M dealer since there is no TSB documentation to support such claims.

The click in the gear shift when you press the brake is the lock that prevents the gear shift from moving unless the brake is applied. Thus keeping little kids from putting it into gear while waiting for Mom and Dad to come out to the car, which is illegal in most places now a days.
I'm stupid...I knew that. duhhh.
It was especially loud in my ex's hyundai...annoyed the crap out of me...and same thing, you could feel it in the gear shift.

i should have mentioned....
i am trading in the MM to lower my monthly payment considerably, this truck would do that for me.
i want a nice reliable vehicle that is generally maintainence free, which my MM has terrrible at
i dont have 20k for a new car
i love the MM, but it doesnt have all the features i would like and personally i hate driving it in the inclimate weather. even with snow tires.

Why would you trade an MM for a mom-mobile? That's a lady car!
