What year will the still-original manufactured in 2002 battery in my occasionally driven 300A die? I have never tended or charged it and I am amazed it's still fine since it does not get driven more than once or twice a week, and sometimes a lot less than that.

Still have OEM in mine too. Car was built 5/2003 not sure of the battery. No issues no charging but it is my DD. And now I jinxed it, so it wont start when I leave work tonight.

I'll never know, it was gone when I bought the car, and I have since replaced it with a better battery, and put the other one in reserve, on a trickle charger.

Don't batteries last longer in colder climates than hot?

Nope. Mine died last year too. Battery froze, because I leave the car outside all winter. Now, I bring the battery inside while the car is Hibernating.
Once a battery freezes solid, something happens inside where it will just never hold a charge again.

I replaced the OEM with a red top Optima after 3 years. Don't want to be caught with the battery dead.

My car is a 300A which I bought in June of 02, I now have with 41,000 miles. I replaced mine this summer with a Motorcraft OEM Battery.I wouldn't take a chance of being stranded ?
