As I am now commuting 140 miles a day in the DC area, I decided that I didn't want to abuse my MM, so I ordered a VW Jetta TDI. We took delivery of it last weekend, and this thing runs GREAT!. It's got allot of pep, is real "tight" driving, and I'm getting 40 mpg in commuter traffic. A plus up for this turbo diesel is, that since the 2009's are such a clean burning motor the IRS is granting a $1300 tax credit.

This thing is extremely quiet also, at times I need to look at the tach just to make sure it's running.

My chief owns two and loves them. Good luck with the new ride.

I also have a "Jetta tdi", But It's called Seat Toledo tdi basically the same car.

I can really recommend you to get a "tuning box" (I have one from dragonperformance in the U.K. )
It will boost the power with about 30hp and give a very noticeable performance improvement. And have not seen any negative effect on mpg, it will do up to 60 mpg

Well, I finely got around to taking some snap shots of the TDI, since on the 15th of DEC it's 63 degrees here at the house.

This thing is a GREAT commuter, I'm averaging 40mpg in morning traffic.

Really a "tight" driving car.

And the SIRUIS traffic overlaid on the GPS screen in the morning, really help out getting around backups.

I've got several clients at my work who have Jetta TDI's and they all love them. Definitely a good move to keep the miles off the MM and especially dealing with DC traffic.
