I have changed employers in recent months, and now work for a machine shop that produces parts for the DOD, and, medical bone screws, back plates, ect., but the thing I was wondering is what shift you work? I work 3 PM, till 1:30 AM mon. thru thurs., a three day weekend every week.

I do a small amount of consulting work for a few machine shops on my off days, or before my regular job, usually 7-10 hours a week, (under the table).

Typically I work 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Occasional Saturdays as required -- usually event based. This week I had two 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM days. I adjust as needed. Of course, when things slow down -- I'll go home at 3:00 or 3:30 PM. I'm flexible. :)

I did that 5-6 AM until Whenever routine for my entire time in the US Army. It took me only 1 day to break that habit after I retired. ;)

I can start as early as 5a.m. or as late as 8a.m., as long as I put in 8. I can flex my hours, too. If I want a 1, 2, or 3 hour lunch I can take it, as long as I put in 8 hours a day minimum. I rarely see my boss, it's great.

7am to 3:30 typically unless over time is approved.

AT&T red step installations (service effective) must be performed in what is known as the service window.

This varies region to region, but is typically 12am to 6am.
Some may be performed after 6pm if specifically noted in the SMOP (SERVICE METHOD OF PROCEDURE).

System augmentations, test and turnup is usually scheduled at 8am if it not service effective.

My normal hours are 6am-5pm M-F but that is just the norm. Last week was all 5am starts and a few times I didn't get home til 8-9PM.
My days can be very unpredictable so making long term plans is almost impossible.

Self employed, own/manage commercial property..

One day suit and tie meeting with clients, next day in a front end loader plowing snow.

Jack of all trades, master of none :beatnik:

Hours, what the heck are those? I make my own. Sometimes has its advantages, sometimes it sucks, like plowing for 20 hours straight.

I do not take any time off from Dec. 1 - April 1, have turned down way too many Daytona 500 tickets over the years.. but I do try to travel a lot in the summer and fall. Usually Vegas, Montreal, Charlotte and Atlanta.

7a-6p, sometimes I get a lunch, sometimes not. usually off wednesday and sunday, that varies as well. they have cut my employees hours so much, that it is affecting customers, and caused three of my best people to find full-time jobs, so I'm pretty much screwed, and have to fill in more than I'd like, or is smart. seriously thinking of going back to teaching.

I love my work week, 5:00am to 3:00 pm, 4 days a week Tues-Friday, and have had Sat, Sun, and Mon off every week for the last 10 years, no lunch, but have two 20 min breaks on the company. Work for Walmart at data entry in one of their Distribution Centers. Would not trade this schedule for anything in the world. Tho they frown on overtime, There are 4 prison systems with-in 20 miles of me and over 30,000 inmates, I am thinking about them on my days off for some extra cash.

Hi all,

I work 12 hour rotating shifts, 6 to 6 with an unpaid 30 minute lunch. It's a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. IE: I'll work 6:00 AM til 6:00 PM Monday and Tuesday and have Wednesday and Thursday off. Then work 6:00 PM til 6:00 AM Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night and be off Monday and Tuesday. Then work 6:00 AM til 6:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday and be off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Back to work 6:00 PM til 6:00 AM Monday and Tuesday and off Wednesday and Thursday. You get the picture. The great thing about rotating shifts is that your body never really gets used to the schedule! Sometimes you don't know if you are coming or going. Most people don't realize what a luxury it is to have a straight day job. And for those of you thinking I have a lot of time off remember when working off of nights the first "day off" doesn't count for much since you are sleeping to recover from nights. Except that I have to get up no later than 11:00 AM so that I can sleep that night and get back to a day schedule for a couple of days and then right back to nights... You have to be there. :(

we're supposed to rotate every 28 days, but since we're allowed to trade shifts with people, most people get on a pretty steady shift. i flip between days (0700-1500) and noons (1500-2300) and try to avoid mids if at all possible.
