As most of you know, I sold my Marauder saturday. I purchased a lightly used 2006 Fusion S 5 speed.
I absoutely love this car. It is not the thrill of having a new car that has brought about this feeling, it is truely the car itself.
The interior is nicely laid out. Controls are easy to find and use, and nothing feels out of place. The seats are comfortable and supportive, and personally the car rides as if not smoother than my MM did with the stock wheel combo. The trunk is massive and since the rear seat fold down, a flaw i found in the Marauder, interior space is unmatched.
The 5 speed is almost perfect. It revs about 2k rpms in second at 20... leaving first gear for only true dead stops. The clutch is effortless yet solid. Only drawback is that when in gear the sifter does move side to side a lot, and the stick dwells all the way to the right in nuetral. It lets you have lots of fun when needed, but will let you relax and go through all driving conditions without changing gears. Your choice.
I love the styling. If you dont, don't buy one.:D
PROS:
far more car than the price would suggest
made for taller people
telescoping wheel standard
speed sensitive wipers standard
handles crisply and attentively
rides smooth
lots of room for a midsize
power is great for 160hp 2.3l I4
redline is 6500 rpm
5 speed requires no attention
fuel economy.... rated 23c/31h
i experienced so far 140 miles on 1/4 tank:banana2:
** v6 has same power/weight as MM **
CONS:
headlight knob is really low
motor loves high revs ( some might say con to that lol)
back window is small and hard to see out of
Gauges resemble the 82 tempo MASTER loved to much lol
Keep in mind, mine is bare bones. i wanted it with no options, and i love it. Raudermaters dad has a fully loaded v6 Fusion, he could offer more insight to other levels

I must say....the interior makes the Marauder feel cheap.
Driving it is a pleasure...plenty of get up and go with the 5 speed.
My only complaint would be the noise. The motor is a little loud at cruising speeds, and it seems to have a little more road noise than i was used to.
Overall, very satisfied.
I'll be going tomorrow to look at an auto v6 with the sport appearance package.

My only problem is that they don't make the AWD with the sport appearance package.
Now is the time to buy....The se v6 sport package is $19,812 for an 09

I don't like it, nor do I know why you got rid of your Marauder for that. Well different strokes for different folks I guess. I do like the idea of a manual tranny, but still I just don't like it man.
As long as you are happy that's all the matters. I love my K5 more than any vehicle and no one seems to get it, so I say screw em... I didn't buy it for them! :P

Nice write up. Keep them coming as your impressions develop. What wheel/tire package does it have? Show me the "Tempo" gauges! I'll be in love :)
At 160hp, its really not far off what I had in the Tempo with the V-6. I was running about 180 in the end, but I had about that much torque, too. Must get out in one...

When the Marauder is paid off, I plan on picking up a Fusion. either the 2010 or a left over. I gotta have a stick and it has to be black.
I still plan to keep the Marauder.

Question: Is the oil gauge in the console the usual Ford "switch" rather than real gauge?

you must ahve come late to the party...i have annother thread out as to why i got rid of my car.
I bought my car, unknowing that the motor had just been rebuilt. then the motor blew up and a replacement motor with twice my cars mileage was put it. it started making noise, tranny was slipping, and the rear axles were in need of being fixed.....
plus i have a LOT of medical bills that need to be paid so i had to get rid of the car. NO, i do not miss it. it was a worry that i didnt need.

Glad you got it Adam. We love our '08 SEL V6. We have a tune and TB spacer and the thing rips. It dyno'd 185fwhp and 168fwtq. If we get a CAI we can initially pick up another 25hp or so if not more. We need better tires though on it, I mean it gets absolutely no traction from a dig if you stomp on it, and sometimes from a roll depending on the speed.

Aaron is now looking at one.....
I truely love this car, and I better... no new cars till its paid off. lol.
Im getting the shift kit and intake to start, then ill tune it. No No No No ricer stuff, so i think exhaust is outta the picture. Although I will probably end up throwing the smaller "lip" style spoiler on it. Its the one on the Sport Appearance package

No, just thought it would make you guys laugh...
I really don't miss my MM. I have noticed, after it being gone for a month getting a "new" motor put in, that there are a LOT of things i didnt like about it. But, I had a kid ask today what my MM had in it, he said he had been hearing it around town:P:(
That I will miss.

The Magnaflow is the best kit for them. I've read it's only for "sound" purposes only and you'll pick up less than 10hp from it, not worth the coin, like an SHO exhaust. We're getting some SAP rims for it come summer time. We just ordered a strut tower brace and rear sway bar for it. Springs are coming spring time.

Rims are a must, especially for me. The 16" hubs wont do for springtime on....
Im thinking of the Hot Wheels 68's or the Hot Wheels Redlines a nice big but basic 5 spoke. 18"s for sure. Another thing the MM had just right.

Why not a Milan? or is that only a Ladies car now.
Price and style.
I prefer the Fusions looks, and the Milan costs more.
They were selling my Fusion for under $10k.....

Congrats on the car. My wife has a Milan and loves it. I have a couple of complaints, but they are mostly nit-picking. It is a V6 and has been 100% reliable for 37000 miles now. Good luck with yours.
P.S. - beware of attempting to turn in snow. It might be the stock tires, but our is terrible in the snow. We have Blizaks on it now for the winter.
