View Full Version : Could we limit non Marauder posts and website posts to the lounge.

Aren Jay

This is getting as bad as NASIOC, ok not that bad but almost.

Yes I make dumb posts now and again but i try to post them here in the lounge where they belong.

Yes the lounge is where some of us blog chat and socialize.

Personal life updates etc...

Showers and the like, moving, life changes...

Trouble:

Trouble posts are problematic in that they get out of hand or result in inane posts that do nothing.

In before the lock pictures do nothing.

Yes I make dumb posts once in a while, sometimes I try to delete them sometimes I don't.

Most of the trouble posts are posted by us Free users. We pay nothing and demand rights. We don't have any rights.

Contributors have what ever rights are agreed upon when said contributions are made. Nothing more nothing less.

Owners own the site everything posted here, unless prior copyright exists. They may do whatever they like and the rest of us, unless we have a contract saying so, have nothing to do or say about it. Except decide not to be here.

Vendors have whatever their contracts say their rights are. Further more all vendor posts should be strictly posted only in the said vendor or vendors where cross over appears forums.

Attacks made on line are subject to libel. They are published and may, reflect upon the owners of the site who have every right, within reasonable time to eliminate any way they feel they want to said posts.

If you have something to say to someone PM them and say it. Don't post up libel possible information. Defyants post should not be where it is. Shouldn't be published at all. Yes it is informative but we are not the National Inquirer, et all.

Perhaps this site needs new direction. Marauder site about Marauders and their owners not a free for all site about showers and where I'm moving or that you are praying for my Mom in the Hospital...

Perchance the lounge needs to be only about non Marauder cars or meets and talks of meets, directions for cars etc...

Not about girls, people writting on your truck, who did what to who while drinking, short sheeting beds, canceling this or that...

Blogs:

Yes I'm a Blogger perhaps I shouldn't be blogging here.

Snow is cool but has nothing to do with my Marauder which I havn't taken out into the snow.

Points:

Nasioc has points and they do not work. We don't, and everyone complains about any action taken against anyone about anything. Points don't work because they are not given in all/most circumstances.

Non Owners:

We are not a Marauder owners club we are an information site about Marauders. Or perhaps I shouldn't say We as I don't pay anything to be here.

We need to grow up. Even the kids who are here.

(Can I post this and have it locked before the in before the lock pictures appear?)

Thanks buddy, even our top blogger, whom posts mainly consist of his constant worries of helicopters, ninja senses, a "slow" room, and open about being secretive, has spoken.

I have become vocal in this matter now, and if I come off as immature, I do apologize. Correct me and i will fix the problem.

This isn't a free speech site, this is a publication about Marauders, which many of us, including me, have seemed to forget now and again.

You've forgotton this is a Marauder website? Really? There's an understatement! Here's another one; The Titanic is damp.

4,600+ posts and 5 of them were about the Marauder. At least once you mentioned running snow tires in July.

Wow.

I just don't get it.

Dom posts about his car, the mods done to his car, his drag strip times, launch revs, ect and does some off topic posting. He actually attends meets. I'll cut him some slack on the music threads because 100% of our Marauders have stereos in them.

What happens? The mods "gently remind" him to lay off the frequent posting.

On the other hand we have Diabolical Jay who's been going on and on about Smart car Vs Lightening for two+ years. Random posts about what time it is on the north pole, an even starting and then answering his own threads! More or less just talking to himself!

What happens? Nothing.

Now Zack posts ONE off topic thread about his bathroom remodel and Diabolical Jay has a fit about it.

Can some one explain any of this to me?

Just to clear the air on a couple of Jay's points.

There is no "contract" between our generous friends who contribute to keeping this website open and the owners ....none. There are perks that you all know about, but certainly, no special status. Which is not to say that holds true for our vendors who moderate their own forums.
we do the best we can when someone posts a thread in the "wrong" forum. In most instances those threads get quietly moved to the correct (in the moderator's judgment) forum, with little or no comment. In many cases the person who starts the thread, is unsure where it should be posted, and a moderator will use his judgment as to whether it should be moved....or not.
As for content of the posts, or threads, and who is the originator, you have the option of reading them, or not. Remember, the ignore function can be your friend, ...i don't have the luxury of using it BTW.
we don't allow profanity, politics, religion, personal attacks, or ribald content, and expect decency and gentlemanly behavior, here. Other than that, this is an open forum to discuss your bathroom, or your eyelashes, if you wish, just don't include lurid details, photos, or links of/to nasty stuff.
PS: why would I close this thread while Jay's getting a well deserved wire brushing? Funny stuff, guys, especially the last half dozen posts. :D

OR....Maybe.....the site should start charging a fee based upon the number of non-Marauder threads that each member starts.

I wanted to lock the post right away thus limiting the bandwidth to a very small amount of typed text. Your signature picture that wastes bandwidth. Perhaps we should just make this a no picture site, no bandwidth problems at all then.

I'm sure you can imagine what a coffee stain on a wall looks like.

But as this has been clairified I shall continue to post away about the black airplane that flies overhead, the MGM that follows me to the Hospital and my moving to an apartment soon. Before Christmas or after I don't know yet but soon. Oh and I will park my Marauder underground at the new apartment.

Well if you knew anything about Image tagging and Vbulletin coding you would know that the picture is not hosted by MM.net and merely linked and embedded into the post. If mm.net were to host the picture then it would be really taking up some bandwidth.

Your just mad cause you found that picture pretty funny when you weren't suppose to. lol cause you have to save bandwidth and don't want to post the lol smiley now.

I must say, in defense/support/whatever of the mods, we are allowed some leniency in regards to political and religious comments. I can't recall or maybe I missed it, but I don't think anyone has been banned for comments on those 2 particular subjects? And knowing me and politics, I've probably come close. Personal attacks however, do not go over too well here.

Now and again???? Now and Again????? Like I said once before, If post count was based on Quality not Quantity, You should only have 15 posts right now.

Yes I make dumb posts once in a while, sometimes I try to delete them sometimes I don't.

No its "Yes I make dumb posts all the time and I never tried to delete them."

Perhaps this site needs new direction. Marauder site about Marauders and their owners not a free for all site about showers and where I'm moving or that you are praying for my Mom in the Hospital....

You dont get the concept of how close most members are to each other. Its like a family in a sense the way we take care of each other. You dont see how the community comes together and helps other members out when they have a engine failure or the sympathy from the group if a member loses a family member? That fact is what makes this site as great as it is.
Its not just anonymous people posting car facts over and over.
Plus if this site took that direction you would have nothing to post because your threads are rarly ever car related.

Perchance the lounge needs to be only about non Marauder cars or meets and talks of meets, directions for cars etc.

Not about girls, people writting on your truck, who did what to who while drinking, short sheeting beds, canceling this or that...

The lounge is used by members to talk about interesting things that go on in their life. Not useless questions, Redundant ranting or polls that have no meaning.

You are *****ing about yourself!!!! :shake: The way you feel in this thread is that way I feel about you on a daily basis when I click the "new posts" link and see 10 threads of nonsense with your name attached to it.

. This pretty much sums up my feelings as well. It's obvious that I am not a gear-head. If this site only welcomed those who are, I'd be long gone. I do love my Marauder and am fascinated by reading the technical posts. I enjoy hearing about other members mods, kills, tunes , you name it. Better yet, I've had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of you in person. There are others of you that I feel I know, because of our interactions on line. So yes, I am interested in whatever matters to you guys and I read your posts no matter the topic. The forum suceeds because we come to care about each others successes and failures, joys and sorrows, house remodels, pets, families and of course Marauders. :)
