Nice! Have fun shooting bugs and creep-crawly things. I thought Santa was going to bring my a flash, but all I got were the batteries :(

Oh yes...my 600 is so outdated.

I love this 900 but the $350 is better spent on glass right now.

Very nice. I am a professional photographer by trade (portraits/weddings), and you seem to have a great eye.

My advice for the future: buy a used SB-800 instead of a new SB-900 to save cash and use it in conjunction with your 600. They work together wirelessly through Nikon's "Creative Lighting System" and you can really do some cool stuff. You can use the 800 as a master and the 600 as a slave. That allows you to give more direction to you light. Here are low-res sample portraits I did that exact way except using 2 SB-800s and a home-made softbox on the remote 800 (the bottom one is a little blue and a little too soft on here for some reason IMO, but it looks great in the 24x30 I made of it):

P.S. If you want some BIG prints made, I'll be glad to do them for you. I can print up to 44" wide (40x60 is the largest standard size) on my Epson 9800. Cost would be around $5/sq. ft. I have printed 40x60s from a D70 a few years back that looked fabulous ... I don't know what you're shooting with but it's probably as good and most likely better than a D70. I photographed the little girl in the chair with a D80 ... not even close to Nikon's best body ... and it is 32x40 in my front window and looks AMAZING.

Thank you, and welcome!

I had to dosome fussing, but I was able to find your pics.
Nice portraits, but the depth of field is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

I shoot with a Nikon D80 for the moment.
However, I am seriously thinking of putting off Marauder mods on '09 and springing for a D700.

Wonder why my linked photos didn't show up? Hmm ....

I usually do portraits of individuals with a 80-200 f/2.8 and that takes care of the depth issue.

Don't you LOVE the D80? I photograph weddings with a pair of them. I would not splurge on a different camera if you're happy with the D80.

I do sooo much in low light captures that a D300 - 700 would be a blessing and ease the pain of metering sources and carrying the bulky flash units.

I also live in Ohio where it's gloomy 5 months out of the year.

Come on, Barry. How about telling the whole story. You know the picture of "flipping the Bird" was over the top, both in this thread and your avatar. In a Private Message, I politely asked you to remove it, after you had already stated to me, "don't worry...it won't last."

Thank you for being considerate of other Members and removing said photo.
