I was driving along today, put turn signal on, clicky clicky went out.

1) No turn signals
2) No brake lights
3) No hazards
4) Cant take car out of park because I have no brake lights.
I do have headlights though. I looked at the fuses and the top right side fuse was blown. it was a 15. Replaced it with no help.

Just replaced the brake light switch thats on the actual brake pedal about 5 months ago. Any ideas???????????????

Did you check the main power distribution box under the hood?

Check all the other fuses.

THis sounds like a LCM or fuse issue to me.

I would consider the fact that you can not take it out of park...to be the major clue...

That brake light switch you replaced 5 months ago...is the one that triggers the saftey mechanism that allows for the trans to shift out of park...

I'll bet the wires coming out of the brake light switch (on the pedal) got pinched...

Best of luck...

If you can take it out of park you could use your hand signals to drive. You do know your hand signals right?

Choke yourself. :DIf if won't come out of Park, he'll just be sitting in his driveway waving at people. Repeat step one.:D

Turning the key to the first detent will allow you to push the shifter button in to get out of park, but keep in mind you still have no lights.

Thanks, that may be an important piece of info later.

Ok guys, here is what I got:

Fuse 19 blown brake lights
Fuse 12 blown multi function switch for turn/hazard lamps
Fuse 22 blown multi funtion switch for brake/hazard lamps brake on/off switch

Replaced all of them, when I hit brakes a few times, they all pop. Replaced them all again, so far so good.

I have been having the headlight issue which I believe is the LCM. They go on for about 15 minutes and shut off. If I hit the turn signal, sometimes they come back on.

I know, your probably going to yell at me and say buy new LCM, but try to go easy on me. LOL

Why would we yell at ya? I'm actually interested in this thread, what is an LCM?

LIGHT CONTROL MODULE
that describes what mine did when it was on it's way out.
The resistor is easily replaced with a solider gun.
Save 'ya some cabbage

Hmmm...oddly, my interior lights are slowly fizzling out. First it was the lights on the doors for the window controls, followed by my gage pod lights, now this evening I noticed I can't see my fuel level, cause the light is out. Pretty soon I'll be flying down the road at night holding up a Zippo, resisting the urge to yell "FREEBIIIIIIIIIRD!"

I do that already everytime they play it on the radio!!!

Before you get rid of a car, find a good mechanic.

LCM or a multi function switch (turn signal switch), I have seen more bad MFS's than LCM's, but..... you just never know. All those items with the blown fuses, run through the MFS, I had a Vic recently that did the same thing, after the repair, I disassembled the switch assembly, it was most definatly the cause. Just my .02

Thanks guys. I really love my Marauder and it is a great car. I was just letting some frustration out with my post title due to the fact I have been going at my mothers Grand Marquis the past few days with some ruff idle issues and then this happens to my merc.

Like I said earlier, I replaced the fuses and so far everything is working fine. Im going to have the multi function switch and LCM checked next week. I hope everything works correctly in the meantime. Thanks again to everyone for there help. I keep this post updated with the findings.....

Im going to have the multi function switch and LCM checked next week. Checked how and by whom? If you mean the dealer, be prepared to sever your arm to replace the MFS and to remove more important body parts if it's the LCM.

DO NOT allow the dealer to replace your LCM...it WILL cost you a mortgage payment. The repair can be done by anyone handy with a soldering iron in about 15 minutes for the cost of the replacement relay ($3.38 from Mouser Electronics).

Yes, I think you may have 2 seperate problems. The headlights going off and on is definately going to be the LCM. It is a problem with most 03's and more often the earlier built ones. Seems the 04 LCM was a better part and the replacement ones as well. Had to change the wifes and put I got an 04 and put it in and no more on/off lights.

By the way, a quick test for an overheated/bad LCM? Reach down and smack the dash right where the diagnostic data link connector is on the lower driver's side by the console (you can use your foot too, it's a great stress reliever when the stupid lights go off). If the lights come back on when you whack ita few times, it's the LCM internal light circuit breaker tripping.

If there is a tech article on the DIY LCM fix, can someone point it out to me, I have 2 03 LCM's off the car that need the fix.

The other problem is, as someone said before, most likely the MFS. This problem started in the wife's car as well atabout 70K miles and resulted in a lot of intermittant no turn signals, high beams, brake lights, blown fuses, etc. After a few times of "gee honey, it works OK for me" I got wise and changed the MFS on advice from friend at Ford. Cleared up the lighting problems. She has close to 130K on the car. It seems that if you do a lot more of night driving the problem shows up.
