Just came back from the local Ford dealer here. They've got a beautiful black on black GT500KR sitting on the showroom floor. Very nice, but .....

Base Vehicle -- $44,000
GT500KR Package -- $38,000
Dealer Mark-Up -- $68,000

TOTAL $150,000

Who buys these things?? ;) Wow, simply wow !!

Perhaps Ford has not mentioned it too loudly, but the 2010 GT500 upgrades are basically the same KR package items including lthe 540 HP. Wait for the 2010 and you can get a KR for the GT price.

We were thinking KB for my girlfriends Mach1, but the Vortech won since we want to keep the shaker functional.....

Yeah Charlie...BUT for that price they do include a big jar of Vaseline!

I mean, seriously...What idiot is going to pay that kind of markup?
As Glenn said, the new 2010 standard GT500 will include all the KR goodies.

$150,000 for a GT500KR.....:hmmm:
Let's see how about a new ZR1 Vette AND a Roush Mustang for the same money?

My dealer has 3 of them. How far under $100k was he looking into?

There were 2 at academy ford in laurel last time I got my oil changed and they were both selling for 100k. One of them had just been sold. One red one black. The black one was the one that just sold.

We took 3 for our dealership and have 2 sold. All of them are MSRP with NO markup. The one left is like the showcar - Silver with Blue stripes.

Same dealer ^^^^ above has several GT500's in his garage showroom and has added a $20K mark-up to those for a final price of $66,000.

Now that you mention it Joe, I think I did see a big tube of Kentucky Jelly sitting on the front seat.

Yeah, in this economy, those rascals will FLY off the dealer lots at that price....

Ya gotta wonder what some folks are thinking.

What a rip off. Sell them for the right price and sell more of them! It's a one in a million Mustang for gods sake.

Only 1,000 made .... and I suspect that in this area, they will get their asking price from someone.

Same dealer had a Titanium Ford GT with white stripes with a $67,000 mark-up for nearly a year. It finally went to a guy from London who was visiting the DC area.

Ford Escape Hybrids has a $5,000 dealer markup.

Just yesterday I was in front of one at a stoplight, then we both turned left and drove together for a few miles. It was an attractive younger female driving and boy did it sound mean when she gave it a little go!! I know the ford dealer where I got the MM has two for sale, I think one was under 100K

At only 1000 units they will sell.

As for the GT500's most around here are now $42-$47. I finally saw the color i want (red w/white stripes) in tennessee on vacation while getting my oil changed. They had it for $47 and were more than willing to talk on it especially when they saw what i was driving.

That's pretty bad, but it still doesn't beat the record I've seen...

Mike Mackenna Ford on the north side of Oahu, Hawaii; SVT dealer. Had a Heritage-painted Ford GT on the showroom floor with a markup---no kidding, and hang on to your hat---of $115,000.

That's right---$115,000. Total sticker after markup was $300,000! See if Local Boy or one of the other Hawaii-based folks can do a drive-by and see if it's still there...when we picked up my wife's Freestyle the first week of Feb 2006, it was there and I'd seen it there for about 2-3 months beforehand. When we left in August 2007, it was still there along with a PJ Saleen Mustang, a Foose-stang, and a black/dark gray-striped Shelby GT500. Those markups weren't too good either.

And Ford wonders why it's in trouble...c'mon corporate, get yer dealers under control...
