Unfortunately, I am beginning to think about selling my Marauder. I am looking for some help on determining an asking price (because I absolutely hate the "negotiable" price because it has the ability to waste both my time and the time of a potential buyer). I have a black 2003 with 140,000 miles on it. the car is all original and has only been dealer serviced except for the occational oil change performed in my driveway. I searched kbb for values and they range from $3,500-$8,000. I have run autotrader searches and found some in the high teens and low $20,000's. This is a huge descrepancy. Can anybody give me any suggestions on how to come up with a fair asking price? Thanks.

What options so you have on your Marauder?

The value dope is caused by the hi-mileage. 70K would be "normal" you are double.

None. And I think it is a 300A with a May 2002 build date.

One of the biggest factors is location. They still run $14,000 to $21,000 in decent shape here 8-10,000 for well used. Also there isn't very many here.

I have seen marauders for sale locally with 100k - 120k miles for $8000 - $10,000.

I get $8,415 Private Party with 140K miles in Excellent condition using KBB.

Same car with 100K is $9,240.

Increases to $11,815 with 60K miles.

Mileage is hurting you. Nearly 2.5 times what's on mine. And as BDJ said -- about double the typical mileage. You may be able to squeak another $1000-$2000 out of an "interested" buyer.

Less than excellent condition also hurts.

Excellent @140K
$8,415

Good @ 140K
$7,715

Fair @ 140K
$6,740

So IMHO you are probably looking at $8000-$9000 max on a Private Party sale. Considerably less on a Trade-In.

If you want to "list" your Marauder the sky is the limit.

If you want to SELL your Marauder market it as so.

njmarauder;

There are only a few marauders in the Arklatex area, and they crash rather than change owners. (sounds bad but it's the drivers exceeding their ability, not some problem with the car)

I have offers to buy my car every day, even the dealer calls me wanting me to sell.

Maybe you should advertise in this area, local car buyers are craving the panther platform in decent shape. From the trend I'll wager there is a set of 24's just waiting to be mounted on it.

Shreveport, La. Bossier City, La. Texarkana, Texas. Hope, Arkansas and surronding areas for 150 miles.

Sometimes I feel the market has associated the Marauder with the Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria or town car in assessing it's true worth. Market your car as a rare, performance car with excekptional high speed roadability. Highlight the differences, such as engine, suspension, etc. Don't even talk about gas economy that's not your customer base.

Don't be afraid of the high mileage, these cars are good for 250+ miles if taken care of.

In other words, create a market and/or go to where panther platforms are popular.

Good luck,

I think $8-9000 is very high, considering you can buy a MM with half the mileage for a couple thousand more.

I'm offering you $4000.
You asked the value of the car...thats what it's worth to me.

Hi

I just drove up to Mass and saved 3-4k (18-25%) on my ~34k Mileage Marauder over NY prices. I found that was true even for a new car like the Challenger. 08' SRT8s sell for only a couple of grand over list in someplace like Philly, but in metro NY I've seen anywhere from 10% to 35% markups.

If you have a friend here who will attend test drives for a cut, that might be the way.

A much better source of vehicle values, imo, is nadaguides.com. That is the resource that the majority of sales and financing institutions use.
