Yea know I've honestly put about 30 miles on mine before when that light came on before filling up. I put in 18 gallons. I believe our tanks are 19.

Thats as close as I'd go. It was all freeway as well.

BUT it was drasticly different between my 03 and 04. My 03 would go about 40 before almost emptying the tank. The gauge on my 04 is more accurate.

My low fuel light comes on ridiculously early. When I have filled it just after light came on it only took 14-15 gallons. With a 19 gallon tank that would give me at least 72 mixed driving miles, and as much as 100 miles on a true interstate run.

4 blocks short of the gas station is my guess.

Or until the engine stops.

My 2003 took 18.1 gals with the fuel indicator just below the "E" line. That is, there was a sliver of silver between the low side of the "E" mark and the indicator.

I've gone 50 miles with the light on with the old setup. Probably couldn't make more than 30 or so now.

I've driven 40 miles on the highway after the light came on.

I regularly go 90 miles after the light goes on. After that it starts to get little nerve wracking.

My best one was a trip from Winona Mn. to Albert Lea, (just over 110 miles) with the low fuel light on.

I'm 37, and have NEVER once replaced a fuel pump on any car I've ever owned. That includes dozens of sub $500 cars.

The low fuel light is just a myth.

I don't know the exact miles, but it seemed like forever. I was on a road trip and knew it was low, figured I'd stop for coffee and gas when the low fuel light came on. I kept driving, kept driving, light didn't come on.
I forgot about it until I got a coffee craving and yelled "Oh crap" and looked down and the needle was below the red E mark, so I leaned closer and when I did I realized the way I had my steering wheel tilted was blocking the damn light! I finally got to a gas station, and the freakin gas cap didn't want to turn. It finally did followed by a loud "WOOSH" as the pressure came off. I swear I saw my trunk and rear fender pop out and back at least 2 inches.

every car is different......
gas mileage and also where the level is affexts it.

Mine went from 4 gallons left to 3 gallons left when the pump was swapped a few years ago.
So, when the light comes on, fill up right away... do the math, and figure out your mileage and you'll know the "how far" for your car.

Mine usually comes on with 2-3 gallons left in the tank. I've done maybe about 30 miles after the light comes on. I rather not take the chance and I usually like to fill up at about 1/4 tank anyways.

A friend of mine would always run his tank down to fumes and I told him he really needed to stop doing that. Well it finally bit him in the ass when he got the call from his g/f that she was on the way to the hospital cause she was going in labor so he rushed to get there and with all the WOT he was doing it sucked every last drop of gas up and the car ran out about 7 miles from the hospital and he ended up missing the birth of his son. I didn't want to tell him "I told you so" but I did lol.
