Does anyone know what size max and btu max stack plate we can out in our OEM trans coolers? I was looking at B&M 11"x8"x1-1/2" 20,500 BTU

That's the one I'm using. It's installed in series w/factory cooler.
I'll try and take a picture latter.

Hook it up in series with the stock cooler, so the fluid goes thru the stock cooler then the aux cooler.

Is this the same one darrin just suggested?

That is the trans cooler WITHOUT the External Thermal Bypass.

Here in MD it can get to single digits in the winter but usually in the teens is the normal lows.

As what temps would the cold weather have an effect on the trans?

Darrin,

I put a small "Frame Rail" cooler before my OEM and it dropped the temp from 200+ to around 180* to 190*......highway with ambient of 75*.....what is optimum??

Around town it barely reaches 180*!!

PS: I still have the OEM separator plate you sent me if you know someone who wants it or you need it!!

Someone above mentioned that the cooler I pointed to was without the bypass.

That was a good observation. I linked that one on purpose because your cars have a thermal bypass installed from the factory already and you would never want to put another one inline with it.

If the thermal bypass fails then the transmission will overheat. Putting a 2nd one in play not only doubles your chances of that, but it also acts as a restriction to flow.

I mounted one of these behind my front grille.

The fan will come on when I am in traffic and in the pits after a 1/4 mile run.
I mounted it in series with the OEM cooler.
I NEVER see my transmission temps go above 180 degrees anymore.

I didn't know the factory one already had the thermal bypass. Thanks!

I have the same setup as fastblackmerc. Bought mine on ebay, got the extra hose and clamps from the flaps.
