Man you'd have to be a Zen Master to fight your flinch reflex once you've fired that thing just once. Mama mia!

A Barrett isn't that bad, a .50 cal revolver, S&W 500, it has a little "snap" to it, about 3 factory loads is all most can stand.:uzi:

That kick reminds me of the Weatherby .300 I shot once upon a time. ONCE.

I was at the range last week on the pistol side when there was this explosion next to me that about knocked me down. It was a S&W .50 cal. revolver with a 4" barrel. The owner let me shoot a few rounds. Been around guns my whole personal and professional life and Ive never shot anything like it. Totally useless but what a cannon. I went back to shooting my .44 Mag Ruger Super Blackhawk and it was like shooting a BB gun.

I had a Ruger #1 single shot in .458 Win Mag and 5 shots at a time were enough for me!!!

550 grain bullet at 3300 FPS with over 2.5 TONS of muzzle energy = HORRIBLY RECOIL!!!!:argue:

I used to shoot a 7mm Mag and didn't enjoy firing it off the bench, but out in the field it wasn't too bad.

Biggest rifle I've fired was my buddy's .375 H&H magnum. Fired it standing stance, don't believe I'd want to try if off a bench.

Recoil & felt recoil is a function of ejecta (bullet/shot weight) times velocity = Muzzle energy in ft lbs. In the case of the .22 long rifle it can be a couple of ft lbs and since we're talking about it, the .375 H&H Mag which can easily exceed 2 tons.

Obviously, stock design and weight of the firearm have a great deal to do with felt recoil. I have, and shoot a Whitworth .375 H&H Mag. all the time. It's magnaported and sports a decelerator pad and with scope weighs in at over 8 lbs. It is not an unpleasant gun to shoot.

Also, as some of you know, I'm a professional trap shooter, and shoot in excess of 10,000 rounds of 12ga shells on the trap and sporting clays fields a year, which works out to nearly 1/2 ton of shot. Meaning, I know something about recoil.

In the case of the Raptor, actually two guns in the vid; one a turnbolt rifle, and the other a Ruger #1 carbine. In either case, those guns were built as a spoof, and on the "mine's bigger" principle, having no useful purpose whatsoever.

There are guys here on the board who shoot .50BMG's and have a lot of fun with them. They're big, heavy, and designed to be shot, not used to make the people dumb enough to pull the trigger look like dopes.

Would I shoot the Raptor? ....no :D

The 50 cal machine guns we use in the doors constantly wear out the mounts they are in and have to be rebuilt....they are no joke..

LOL..

I went to the range with a buddy and he let me shoot his .300 Magnum.

My first shot was almost a perfect bullseye!.....

The next four shots were all over the place...not even close to the bullseye!

I had a bad case of squint, flinch and pray!

Man that baby kicked!
