Even though I'm 33, not 83, I'd roll a TC any day of the week. I owned a 1995 Town Car and it was the best car I have ever had. Nothing made me prouder than writing "Lincoln Town Car" on those forms you fill out at a hotel when they ask for your car type. I'm sure the ride of that TC is much better than the new thing WTF ever it's called. Why can't we have actual names for cars anymore? So, pass me the Geritol and make some room in the valet lane, I'll take a Town Car.

Town Car. Old tech but more comfortable, more room, better ride.

40 yrs old, town car hands down.

ford is flushing its fleet business down the toilet by going this direction.
people dont even know the lincolns apart with these letter-names, and since they are throwing away the fleet business (livery/taxi/police/funeral) as well as any possibility of selling people like me a new car.

I really am having a hard time caring either way.

since the TC/GM/CV often last 500k miles, I'll just squirrel away a few used examples, and wont have any need for a new car in my lifetime.

previous Lincolns

1968 Continental (740,000 miles when sold)
1969 Continental (2)
1964 Continental
1972 Mark IV (4)
1975 Mark IV
1988 Town Car
1995 Town Car Cartier (currently driven)

if they put a retro-styled 1964-5 body (with suicide doors) on the current frame and used the 3-valve engine from the stang and pickup. they wouldnt be able to build them fast enough.

they should similarly build the interceptor on the current frame with a mercury counterpart

that MKS looks like an import car with buck teeth

Town Car.
The MKS looks ok even with that paper shredder grille, but like many earlier "less than full sized" Lincoln sedans it will probably lose its following in a few years and retain no residual value.

They need to re-design the Town Car, I'm a huge fan of 90-97 bodystyles, and even the 98-02, but somehow the current version doesn't give me the must-have feel when I see the previous gen ones.

That is one of the best looking MKSs though. A twin turbo'd version would be very interesting.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Town Car and until yesterday had one, but I'd take the MKS any day. The fit and finish on the MKS is superb, it's styling is unique and it's thoroughly modern. I'd agree I don't see it doing duty in the livery business because it doesn't have the interior spaciousness of the TC but i think it will appeal to a broader group of consumers. I'll be looking at them in 2010 or later if they add a bit more horsepower.

i too love a towncar but that MKS is badass. It will be MORE badass come 2010 with the "ecoboost" twin turbo diesel putting out 350+ HP.

Anybody thinking of an MKS, should check this out
http://www.lincolnmksforums.com/

All the folks on there seem to love their cars. Still can't believe they have 20'' wheel options for these cars from ford

My thoughts are the following:

The Lincoln Town Car has a timeless look and I really love the large interior and a huuuuge trunk room. However it’s somewhat underpowered (spoiled by the Marauder) but is priced well with very heavy incentives.

The Lincoln MKS, looks OK at the front. I don’t like the side profile or the rear. The interior is top notch though, I really wish for would offer Sync and Projector HIDs on the Town Car. The trunk opening is really awkward and it doesn’t even have a coin holder(!) I don’t think this was the proper choice to be a flagship. Rebadging the Interceptor concept with Lincoln badges would of been a far better choice.

I'm pretty sure they had the HIDs as an option like the nav systems on TCs.

mks is nothing like a ford 500. the taurus and 500 are interchangeable but the MKS looks and drives completely different.

Navigation is no longer available on the Town Car. HIDs are avaiable but not projector HIDs.

The only "D3" I like is the Sable, but it's not even available here.

The MKS is basically the same (or maybe I should say a variant) car as the 500/Montego, recent Sable/Taurus and Volvo S60 . Please see para. 4 of attached article:
