I believe when you start the Marauder, the ignition causes the doors to automatically lock.

Sorry to hear this Paula, that always sucks! My car only locks the doors when drive is engauged. Perhaps you bumped it? Check the left side trunk hinge for a little white sticker containing your door code. Also if i remember right it is in the back of your owners manual. Good luck, i forgot mine perhaps i should go look and write it down again for myself.

I believe when you start the Marauder, the ignition causes the doors to automatically lock.
With the key on if you press the lock button on the inside and go to shut the door it will unlock automatically. To lock the car while it is on and running you press the 7*8 and 9*0 on the keypad and it will lock and stay locked.

The code is in the trunk and on the PCM under the dash. You can also ADD your own code and have up to 5 ( 4 plus the OEM one or 5 addition ones, can't remember) but you must know the original one to program a new one.

Sorry you froze your butookie :D been there done that, but not with the DTR. You must have hit the lock button exiting the car. It won't lockup when its running. Well atleast mine won't.
Whats with all this snow in Jersey??? Usually you folks are are asking me to send you some. BTW, I'd be happy to, another 5" during the day and its still coming down... Enough already!!! :bigcry: but Britty and I did have fun once my snow chores were done. Another day of trips down Elm St. on the mini luge with Otto in hot pursuit. Made the snow cave larger and a snow chunk fight :D

I've found that the keyless entry system does a good job of preventing one from locking oneself out of the car while the key is in the ignition. Basically, the rule it follows seems to be to *unlock* the doors and to force you to lock the doors from the outside (either with the two buttons on the right of the keypad, the remote, or by using a key in the door cylinder - it does make the assumption that if you know how to lock the doors using the keypad that you also know how to unlock it using the keypad). It seems to follow this rule when it detects both the key in the ignition (I'm not sure if the position matters) *and* no driver in the drivers seat.
Alternatively, it will *lock* the doors with the key in the ignition and when the drivers seat is occupied, and it will again lock the doors when in drive and one of the doors is opened and then closed. Essentially, when the drivers seat *is* occupied, the car follows a different set of rules for controlling the door locks.
I'd have a look into the drivers seat occupation sensor - it might be malfunctioning, and always sending an 'occupied' signal.

Sometimes mine doesn't lock till I hit the brakes, my wife and I have both commented on this, put your foot on the brake, shift into rev., back out, brake, into drive, slow at the first corner, stop at the next, and when applying the brakes at the next stop sign, the doors lock. Anyone else? Sorry, not trying to steal the thread.

I have noticed that, after dropping someone off but staying in gear, the doors will not lock for a little while. To me it seemed to be on a fixed timer, but perhaps it is related to the brake light.

If I have the keys in the car running...I crack the window...I locked THREE too many keys in a car for that to happen again. :shake:

I got locked out of my car (and house) early this morning. It had snowed overnight. I started the car, turned on the headlights, turned on the defroster, got out to get the snow brush from the trunk, shut the door and "click" went the lock. Oh yippee! My purse containing house keys and cell phone were locked inside.
Respectfully this makes a great case for remote start. You can set the heat, defrosters(rear also) seat warmers:):):)
By the way that click sound is the pits after you understand what just happened.:shake::eek::eek:

My question to you is do you now have a personal code for your Marauder because you may forget the original in a few months....

Now that I know my code I use mine all the time. Nothing is better than not having to fish your keys out of your pocket when all you want to do is drop something into your backseat.
+1^^^^^ I use mine ALL the time!

I'm having mine tattooed on,well.....somewhere. LOL
Can I see it when it is done? ;)
Paula you need to leave your car with me for a week or two so I can figure out what is wrong with it.

I use the keypad code ALL the time to unlock and lock the car. That way I never forget it AND I can get in the house if I get locked out because I can get in the car and open the garage door.
By the way, on the automatic locking of doors.......that "feature" on cars steams me to no end. I hate it. I can't remember if the MM had that feature. If so, then I disabled it about 5 secs after I bought the car. My car does NOT auto lock the doors at any time.

I have locked myself out of a lot of cars, and had to break back into them. I left the back window of a buick I used to have half open during the summer time, and had to climb back through it to get into the car.

Mine will not lock wth keys in the ignition.
If true something is broken on your car.as noted earlier you have to work at it BUT..
If you inadvertanly hit the last two keys with car running and nobody inside it WILL or at least it is supposed to lock. of course mine is an early 2003 and all the others I checked were also. Years ago when it happened to me.
snow in New Jersey ... WOW must be global warming.

I noticed this action today: drive for a bit, in traffic; stop, but stay in gear; passenger gets in; release brake; gas it to the first stop, where the brake is applied. Upon releasing the brake, the doors are locked.
I don't quite get the logic behind that feature

The clock is ticking to your next lock out Ms D do you know you code yet?,salesmen at the dealership can find it for you also.Just watched a AAA guy break a window trying to unlock a SUV at Wally world and thought of you.The owner evidently didn't know his code because the suv had a keypad :alone::alone::alone::alone:

I've done lock-outs for years, some of the hardest, I broke one window, because that was the customer request, (unlocking would take to long) the customer signed the release. Poor little doggy locked itself in the car.

My agency still does lock outs. When people complain its taking too long I suggest the brick method of quick entry. No takers yet. :D

I did lockouts for AAA for years, I made a lot of my "tools" out of old car antennas, in the day I was good.

I have the Mac tools lock out kit (not cheap) call me next time! J/K. I did a short stint as a tow truck driver and they were extremely useful. I also used to have the master key set they used to sell before all these chipped keys that would let you in and start the car.
