Why havent you bought this car yet?
Try to keep the answer within 4 words...

I think it was 99-00 Corvettes had a similar option/feature. It's an auto unlock, the car knows you're near and opens up for you.

The more "toys" build into a car the more to break down the road.

lol, the crappy new Maxima's have that. Big deal? IMO, the Phaeton costs too much, no one bought them, which is why they aren't in production anymore. If you want one, you might as well get the Audi version, can't recall the name.

Aren, while you find this function nice, Top Gear did a review of the new Challenger, which also has this function.... Funny enough, while Richard Hammond was in the diner eating, Jeremy Clarkson stole his car and moved it into the middle of the road, since the car detected the key being close enough.

I dont trust it, and now it is pretty much standard on higher end cars and crappy maximas.

It was neat when the Pheaton came out, just like everything on the car.... Now it is becoming comon place so, its an old unrefined version of new standard features.

Buy a new car.

Aren,
Phaeton's do look nice and i'm sure drive great, however, good luck on repairs. VW dealers require their techs to be certified to work on them. I worked at a VW dealership a few years back when they first came out. Whenever we had one come into the shop, the vehicle would leave with more trouble lights then when it came in. Sure they may be nice under warranty and provided that you can find a VW dealership with a competent mechanic, otherwise forgetaboutit......

a Phaeton passed me on the highway today... my brother spotted it and asked if it was a Phaeton. Nice looking, kinda bland, but I do love the roof line/ window line on it.

it was a bluish green color.

I guess that it's my fault for clicking on the topic, but sometimes these VW posts on a Marauder forum are like Jahova's Witnesses knocking on your door. There's nothing wrong with either, but you just wish that they weren't at your house/forum trying to convert you.

This reminds me of another car, only sold in North America for 3 years, what was it's name again? Oh yeah the Marauder.

J/K.

The Audi is the A8L W12 the V8 version isn't available with the 4 seater configuration and the price of the Phaeton, low because it isn't the Audi or Bentley, has more features and costs, now, half as much. It is another of those cars, that costs little now, not because it is bad but rather because it has a non stellar name. This is also why I can afford to buy one, now, where as I cannot afford the Audi that costs 3 times as much.

The Audi basica Bekive lly makes you pay twice once for the car and once the 0000 on the front end.

..

Not really true, My wife's A8L came off lease last year with the residual
at $42K, it sold at auction for $27,500. 2005, 31K miles. Sticker price of $80K+ new. Also the Phaeton drives like a pig compared to the 1,000 lb. lighter A8L.
Believe me, I know.

Grass that is green, wow, I havn't seen dry green grass since? 2007.

The Phaeton is awesome as always, almost Acura TL like.

I think you mean Acura RL...

This VW is all about the seat.

http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/021210-2.htm

Our Marauder's seats have a weak point, being ported over from a split bench and as such have compromised bolsters, as we all know. One wonders if a proper seat would have cost so much?

At 6'6" I find NOTHING wrong with marauder seats. After 46,000 miles I find them the best seats.

This would be all fine and dandy if I drove from the backseat, but I don't, so it isn't. On to the next goofy topic, please.:)

But unless you have sat in a Jaguar or a Phaeton, you really do not know what you are missing.

At 6'5" I fit in the Phaeton with room to spare. You really need to have a look at one. Think about Clarkson also 6'5" he fits with room to spare. They really are that nice. I do not fit into BMW's or Mercedes, or Subaru's or most any other car with a sunroof, except Jaguars. The above picture shows you how much backseat legroom you have, the seat is back in that picture. And CBT the front seat is even better than the back and the back is very good.

No one but you is going to go look at a Phaeton. Sorry, it wont happen.

Well atleast that will keep the price down.

:)

All joking aside, if that's your dream car and the price is right, go for it. Unfortunately, to me, it is...correction, WAS too much for a VW. How would you even get parts for it years from now?
