Yes, he deleted all his stuff, after the hard trolling that went on last evening. It's all the other stuff that is missing that says the most. The attached images calling him names and threating him violence (not from last evening, but over the last week or so).

I really liked the thread he started on "What's the difference between a Short block and Long block" where people started referring to him in 'prison terms' and suggesting and even mildly threatening "Pre-consensual surprise prison style sex" to put it simply. Of course, the whole thread was his own fault, for being a troll, right?

I too was unsure the difference between a long and short block, and the question is seems was never answered. But I'd never start such a thread now. Who knows what threats may arise?

Actually, the question was answered by several of the members, and with straightforward, reasonable answers. Others chimed in after that and hijacked the thread, but the initial question was answered. I think part of the problem with a lot of his posts was that you really didn'y know if he was asking a serious question or if he was just trying to be glib.

Brian, we could (and maybe will) debate this question at length. AJ could be really annoying at times, and didn't seem to be very good at taking hints, judging by the volume of the threads he started over the past few weeks.

He also said some stuff awhile back about one of our members that didn't sit too well with some folks (and I'm the first to admit I was one of them). Shortly after that I put him on my "Ignore" list, so I didn't really follow most of the stuff up until the past couple of days.

Pretty slick move on his part. Now he can sit back and smile.

I've got to give it to AJ, aside from some of his stupid comments, oddball questions, and insane threads, i don't think I ever saw him once purposely bash on a member. I suspect that he left because so many of the longer term members stopped feeding his constant troll-like questions.

For 21 months, he had saturated this site with nothing but odd questions, comments and polls of one strange kind or another such as Do the Marauder mirrors rotate? Should I buy a Smart Car or a VW Phaeton? Buy a house or a condo? Will my MM fit into the garage? Looking at a 106' Luxury Yacht? Do you have a lifesized statue of yourself? Every morning there were 5 more inane threads from Mr. Jay and few were car related -- even less were Marauder related. Many members just tolerated his posts for months/years. Recently he seemed to increase his irrelevant posting as a game

When I had had enough -- I just put him on my Ignore List. I no longer was interested in ANYTHING he had to say about any subject. 21 months of :bs: was reason enough for me.

As to his status as a Member here .... I don't think that I ever considered him a "real" member. He was just a long term "Guest" with a screen name and a high post count. Real members attempt to contribute in some way, they participate positively, they ask relevant questions, they provide pertinent information & answers, they attend events if they are fortunate enough to have them within reasonable distance. Mr. Jay just seemed to want to be different and thrive on responses to his off-the-wall questions and comments. No -- I don't consider him a member and I seriously doubt whether he even owned a Marauder (or Panther) at all.

IMHO his presence was disruptive and annoying. I for one won't miss him.

Freedom of Speech works both ways. He posted. Folks responded or ignored him. He decided to leave. Bye Bye.

Can't say that I feel "Better". But I ain't losing any sleep over the loss of his "wisdom".

It's winter, it's snowing, it's short daylight and long work hours.
Not an apology, just my reason.

Why AJDCC/whomever?
He seemed to like to post outlandish, non-sensical threads, I thought I would just "flavor" them up with words of wisdom.
Such as: Coca-Cola was originally green.
Or: Did you know that there are coffee flavored PEZ?

Seemed harmless to me, but so be it.

I just assumed{yes, I know what assumed can mean}, that with his 4 wheel drive Marauder L, 165ft boat,$24 million house, coffee stains, helicopters circling,Phaeton,Subaru,Masera ti,Porsches, and his multi-million dollar home business,,,, he could laugh at a few harmless jabs.

I don't believe I ever posted ANYTHING derogatory about him? If I did, I apologize.

With everything else happening today, I can still sleep at night.

Thanks for listening,AJDCC/whomever

Ahh, I guess I missed that part of the thread. I mainly remember him being the target of some pretty nasty attacks, then getting blamed for those attacks just for starting the thread. And no one getting a 'holiday', let alone a public warning.

I suppose it doesn't really matter what his intentions were. Even if he posted in the TEST FORUM, his trolls arrived in short order. But. . .he was the troll.

Hence, the deck was stacked against him because "everyone's" interests were different than his. No matter what he posted, someone would post in the thread to complain about him wasting their time. But, he was just 'padding' his post count. And it was clear that nothing would be done to those attacking him.

Somehow, the act of him starting a thread caused people to be forced into opening his threads and wasting a tiny fraction of the unlimited bandwidth they pay for monthly. My thread in the Test Forum is a prime example. So is Tito's.

I almost think that his posting in the last week or so was simply to highlight that he could do no right in anyone's eyes. Even if he was doing the exact same thing as everyone else. He still got run out of town on a rail.

Way to go. Mission accomplished. :shake:

I agree wih Charlie 100% and feel the same. His thread's and post's seemed more like a game then actually trying to gain any knowledge. Also if you noticed, no matter what you had or what you did, he had to chime in and say he had something better or had a better experience or knew someone in the same situation. That's a cry for attention and it worked. We gave him our full attention by posting useless fact's in his useless thread's and he couldn't handle it.
If he want's to take his ball and go home then so be it. Maybe taking a hint and improving his image by actually keeping topic's somewhat marauder related or keeping obvious question's like if your mirror's fold in when you claim to own a Marauder to himself, then it wouldn't have been a issue.
Many member's ask question's which may seem simple to most of us, but they don't have a clue about it. We have alway's provided answer's or gave advice where to find it. That's the way it's alway's been and that same formula was used for almost all of AJ's thread's until it got out of hand.
Like RF said, he wasn't tossed off the site nor were his post's deleted. AJ himself couldn't take his thread's being hijacked with our crap just like we couldn't stand our forum's being polluted with his. He himself admitted to being tossed off site's and just coming back with another name. That's proof that we aren't the only group that found him to be annoying.

I'll miss 'em, even though many of his threads were off topic, they were put, where? In the lounge! All those who bashed him coulda just put him on ignore and be rid of him.

I for one like the way he broke up the monotony of posts with the occasional insightful post that made people talk and brought a bit of levity to a forum deticated to a relatively dead topic. I've seen a lotta decent, older, long time members being razzed out of the club for BS reasons, by a few from the old guard, that everyone just jumps on the bandwagon with. Its been said before and I'll say it again. I love my flags and I love this place but I think its on the decline with member on member fighting, and so many lines in the sand that every thread is a battleground! I'll be here with my MM till it goes down, but I just didn't think it'd go out like this!

Now we can concetrate on threads about midget porn and male shrinkage....
Oddly, one could compare his threads with those 2 topics. All three can be funny. All three are best viewed when bored. All three scream for comments to be made after viewing.
I'm a big fan of humor, some of his posts were just plain funny in thier outlandishness. (Is that a word? If not, I claim it on behalf of myself and midget porn stars everywhere.)
Treating him badly enough to make him leave is pretty low, just ignore the guy. 10 times a day someone asks a tire question, do you read them all and then threaten to bend each guy over and make his belly button an outtie instead of an innie because, to you, it is a waste of bandwidth? No. Althought that would be funny. I may do that to the very next time someone complains that BFG's are sold out.....

Its a irrelavant question. If I smacked the mirror and it folded forward then wow, the mirror fold's forward. If I wanted to know if it folded forward then I walk up to my car and find out personally. Its not like asking how to remove the intake manifold or doing a pulley install. For that you would absolutely start a thread asking for advice if the search didnt help.

Actually, there are a bunch of guys here that raz each other pretty regularly, and some times they jab pretty hard. :fishslap:

But those guys know each other, either as long-time posters or as folks who've met face to face and have learned what they can and can't say without taking offense. Some of that understanding came through admonishments, a few apologies, and lots give and take. I'm not sure that AJ ever tried to do that. And hot-rauder, was that shrinkage directed at me? If so i wasn't rambling or joking, it is very cold here. Thats factional material there.

Not directed toward you directly Bob. I just noticed a real boost in posts about male shrinkage and midget porn.... personally this is what turns me off to this site. Although we have a section for off topic threads, which Diabolical Jay used to his advantage, there is no need for these topics. I ouldnt mind as much, but since they were being mentioned in almost every thread, it got REALLY old.

Thank you Charlie - that's it in a nutshell (no pun intended)!

Odds are, he realized the deck was stacked against him.

Don't forget American Idol and other such Marauder related . . .oops.

Baloney!
As Rich said:
He couldn't handle the heat...so he got out of the kitchen.

YEP!

Yep! again.

I, and many other members, DID ignore him.
That is what he dreaded most!..Not getting a response to his posts/threads!

BINGO!

God bless the VW forums!

BTW: You just KNOW that he is reading this thread and LOVING all the attention.

On this, we agree. If you're not old enough to drive a car, why be on a car-related site? Especially a car that fit the demographic of people older than myself, and that's old...

The reasoning that "young kids read this site so we have to be more Catholic than Catholic" is for the most part bogus, #1, and downright silly, #2, as I am certain nothing on here is going to corrupt anyone. If someone is smart enough to find this site, they have seen/heard far worse than anything here.

I'll try to explain it again:

It has NOTHING to do with grandchildren or religion. It has EVERYTHING to do with this being our home and the fact that we don't want stories about male shrinkage, midget porn, or gigantic breasts. There are MILLIONS of web sites out there that specialise in that sort of thing. If you want to talk about that stuff, go to one of them.

When I'm in someone's home, I respect their wishes. All we're asking here is to keep conversations clean and civil. Is it REALLY so hard?

duhtroll
01-29-2009, 09:25 AM
No, it's not difficult for me at all since I don't feel the need to post that type of stuff and personally I don't care for it on this site. In other words, on the morality issue, we agree.

On the other hand, using the midget porn and gigantic breasts examples is not a fair indication of the censorship that has gone on at this site. Those incidents are rare at best.

This "our house, our rules" stuff has gone too far in some cases. And yes, the reason of children reading this site has been given on more than one occasion.

This is not anyone's home. It is an internet forum. Having rules is fine. Having rules that are more strict than what can be seen on prime time network TV, regardless of one's personal views, is simply unrealistic.

Who are you speaking for when you say 'we'? This is also my home and I don't agree with you. I enjoy reading threads that are way off topic as it gives balance to members like me who are not so mechanical/tech savvy. I enjoy reading the threads of others when discussing specific mechanical issues and have learned much from it. But if only these threads were allowed I fear they would become very dry and repititive. This forum is just not only about our cars but I believe also about the individuals who give them life. It has been a pleasure for me over the last 5 yrs to see into the personalities of our members which were revealed mostly through the freedom of the off topic threads. Yeah, its funny how people get upset over posts they don't have to read in the the first place....

Since Gordon's one of my pals, I'd like to address this.

It was me who brought up the grandchildren issue, when, in fact, I don't believe my grandchildren have ever logged on to this site, them being 13, 10 and 01, respectively. I made the point about them illustratively to include my household. Barbara reads many of the posts and although not a prude, by any stretch, smut is simply not welcome in my home. Gentlemanly humor is one thing while graphic descriptions or crude language are a different matter altogether.

So far as reading all the posts, unfortunately, it's part and parcel of the job I signed up to do when I became an owner of this website. I don't have the luxury of an ignore filter, although, admittedly, some threads and posts get read very quickly. ;)

And lastly, to address Gordon's contention that this is an adult site. This is NOT an adult site, it's a family site and we are involved on promotion of family gatherings and family events. Gordon, do you want to expose your niece or Chris to in depth discussions concerning donkey flagellation? That's where we were headed, y'know ..until the vicious rabbit from the north started swinging her mighty axe.

Let's put this issue to bed, once and for all. You come in to our home with potty mouth and it's gonna get a virtual washing out with soap.

This whole my home, my grandkids crap is ridiculous.
With proper moderation comes respect from the members I GUARANTEE you wont have to ask for.

As I suggested in the past, appoint a member to be a moderator; one that the entire community respects and looks up to. This will prove to be far more effective than 6 owners jumping in randomly to handle a situation.

Maybe its how the owners are viewed in relation to their Marauders:
Mike Poore: Doensnt have a MM
MM2004, Mercman, BigDogJim: Seldom take their cars out, little to no mods, rarely on the site.
Bunny and RF: Great people, dont start many topics, NEVER have their car out at a meet.

Either get involved more, cut back the ownership, or appoint someone else to moderate.

We dare to travel to meet our friends across the country and attend more out-of-area meets than most because we don't let distance and 2 day road trips each way hinder our enjoyment of the car and all our friends. We spend thousands of dollars a year on travel expenses alone just to keep involved with this car and more importantly, our friends. If we could get our act together in New England, we would have more opportunity to travel a reasonable distance. I have to add to this that I did not bring my GM to a meet last year. The planes and other more comfortable transportation are nice. As time goes on you will see fewer of the cars at the meets. When racing more will be trailered in! The 600 miles plus driving in a day is a lot for some of us. If the New England people would have some meets I would make it to one! I am on Marys side on this one! :)

Look at these quotes ^^^^ Then look at the fast pace changing environment in the MM world.
Here we have, and I say this politely: "Old" owners with bad backs and a mulititude of 'mature' thinking, biblical references, grandkids, no potty mouth stuff.
But has anyone noticed the average age of Marauder owners? I hate to tell you, but the average age is not 50+ anymore. Its between 20-35 id say.
You cant run a website with 1940's ideals and expect a young crowd to relate.

There is a happy medium to all this, it just hasnt been discovered or applied yet.

BTW: What the heck is a troll, anyway? Am I being one now? I have no idea.

Whadday talking about buddy? Bay man likes you!

Bait a hook, drop it in the bay - and troll to see what bites. That is a 'Troll' in the original sense. Someone posting completely absurd or incorrect things, just to see if they get a rise out of people.

Some confuse it with an ugly thing that lives under bridges in faerie tales. Which makes no sense if you think about it.

It is interesting though.... Go look at some of his recent threads. We all know without a doubt that he has never been an a-hole or made threats to anyone. He made ONE post about a members situation that got tempers flaring, mine too. But he did not mean it malicously, he did it from an outside point of view.... which no one had.

Look at the threads now without his posts. You notice VERY SELDOMLY do any members actually treat him in a decent fashion.... He was never illhearted toward any of you...

Everyone kind of needed a time out on that thread, especially for being a TEST.

The b-slaps were the hight of rude, IMHO. Which is why I dug up that link. (Thanks, BTW). The younglings might think they are being funny, but they really aren't.

I guess it all depends on where you're from as to how you react to that pic. If someone came in my living room, slapped me openhanded and called me that - the first time, I might let it pass. The second, you would lose teeth, if not consciousness. The third, double tap right in the chest. Yes, that might seem a bit over the top.

At that point they would have questioned my manhood beyond the point of it being a joke anymore. It might help you to think of Alberta as 'Texas North'. We like to think about the harm our actions might cause before we act and we are a pretty tolerant bunch, but when action comes it will be swift and hard. That sort of a 'joke' just doesn't fly here. And how many times did that image appear in threads?

I can only imagine how Aren took it, as I took it as quite an insult and it wasn't even directed at me.

So what, "Shut up B-" is like a mating call or something for you? That's just the way you roll? Tourettes common in your neck of the woods?

Perhaps he would rather be the bigger man, decide he doesn't care for the attitude and put you on 'ignore'. Which, of course worked both ways.

He packed up and left, and for his own reasons. I have stayed, for my own. I doubt you factored very deeply into ether decision.

Yes, it's the mating call of the Queen's NYer. Its how we all roll up here, you got me, and Yes all NYer's have tourette's which for us mean's we type vulgar word's out and post them instead of speaking them. It's that rare string that started up here, the med's are working though.:shake:

After 50+ nonsense thread's and attention whoring in post's, That's how I felt. Doing it personally would have been a lot more satisfying. I personally don't care if you agree or not. Feel free to kick the dead horse some more, but That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Perhaps he would rather be the bigger man, decide he doesn't care for the attitude and put you on 'ignore'. Which, of course worked both ways.

First, Aren Jay has not left; he is here in 'spirit'.

Most of us are here for the same reason to converse with our friends, others here are just to 'TROLL' and should stay on MCM.

And Rich when you tell Ms. denmark the story tell her both sides not just what you learned over there.

Not everyone gets along with everyone else and we all do not agree with each other all the time, but come on people your not children.

Moderators, the same thing aplies; I agree with not allowing the cursing and unpropiate pictures and childdessness, but loosen up a bit.

Mike Poore

Moderators, the same thing applies; I agree with not allowing the cursing and unpropiate pictures and childdessness, but loosen up a bit.

Gordon; actually, nothing has changed on our side of it, just the perception of what and how it's been said. Your point about **** being the right word, sometimes, has never changed, and when Charlie referrers to certain situations/people as bastages, no one, including the moderators say anything, because its the right word for the situation. It's when folks start slightly misspelling the four letter words or adding spaces to get around the filters with the intent being garbage mouth from the get-go, that gets attention. I think, you and I have been saying the same thing, just differently.

Over time, the gray line moves, and Zack's point about a younger group replacing the old guys is well taken; but no one can predict what's ahead in the short term. Long term; the Marauders will all have met the crusher, save the few that have been preserved, along with MM.net, and we will long gone; most likely me among the first, due to my advanced years.

It's the love and fellowship we've fostered through this website and because of the cars that have placed us where we are, and what our families mean to one another, not how someone mis-interprets what they think someone else has said.

An example: In these parts of PA it's common to hear someone say, "I bent it straight". Many interpret that to mean that the crooked item has been straightened. Others might think, "What a hick, he can't even speak english". See the difference?

Speaking of family, we have a situation with Grandma brewing and I need to step away for a little while. love mike & barb

5150 now

Oh! The vulgarness of such a comment. I thought this was a family forum and site......

Help me! My brain can't comprehend such deep insight!

Too bad Aren can't see this...... he might even laugh.... just not out loud.

IMHO, after some treated Aren so badly, I don't blame him at all for posting that. It became a very immature game for some. Some think this site is mature enough to allow swearing, while bullying is acceptable too? Let's cut the crap and talk about what matters.

True....Let's talk about a member who posted 5150 times on this site but couldn't pry $25.00 out of his pocket to support this site!

BTW: How you doing Diabolical?....What does STFU mean???

Post count: +1...check!

Yep, you are correct Mary. It's not like he's a vendor or something on the site being attacked, bullied and and ultimately vilified until he's run off the website.

We need to make sure we take care of and protect Aren Jay!!!!

I could do the same in every one of your posts, wouldn't that be fun? Might even take me to 6000 posts.
:woohoo:
I believe you, the fake Mr. Joe Walsh, needs to have a talk with Mary about how and why some pay $25.00 and some do not.

I wonder if this means I'm back?

STFU = Stew for you or Food for thought? Maybe not.

:congrats: It is all Joe Walsh's (not the real one) fault.

I tried and tried, but they just can't stop.

They also complain on every post I make to the Mods and they ask me to stop posting so I do and they still can't stop.

This is Page 14 after all.

Why are Flags vs. Stars even an issue? I have a half a mind to make no differentiation and change the symbols. It's a free-will donation that we all benefit from because it helps pay the bills and allows us the opportunity to hold events and raffles. If someone chooses to contribute, wonderful. If someone doesn't, for whatever their reasons are, that's fine too. If you'd rather, we can consider taking no donations at all but that means features will go away such as the gallery and the arcade, and regional events won't be supported financially.

As for this thread....it's all been said.
