Went out on a half impulse (with the wife) and picked up a 42 inch LCD.

we have checked them out for a few months and were going to wait until after april. But we decided to get it anyways.

Been watching the ghost hunters marathon most all day. Looks great, its an Insignia (kinda an off brand) but it was a good price!

1st new tv to come into the house in 8-9 years.

Hell of a step up from a 27 inch Tube TV.

Now I need to get an HDMI cable.

Congrats.... our 52" projection is looking older and older.... Hopefully we'll move soon, then somes the 52" flat screen LCD.

You will not be dissapointed. Lots of the family has upgraded and you can see the sweat dripping off players faces during the ball games.

Hurry up and get the HDMI cable before the Superbowl starts!!

Thats great news! I foolishly bought plasma a year and a half ago and didn't notice that there were no HDMI hookups!!!! I was so focused on brand name that i didn't notice. And the tiiny 5w speakers could barely be heard (surround sound took car of that).

Enjoy

If you have cable, check with your cable company for an HDMI-capable HD box with accompanying cable.

Welcome to the fun...its as addictive as modding MM's....next you'll want the HD box, HD PVR, full HD package from your cable company, Blu Ray player, full 7.1 digital surround, upgrade your cheap HDMI cable with Monster cables, then it'll be time to upgrade your TV cause it doesn't measure up to the components, then replace all you regular DVDs with Blu Rays, just in time for the next revolutionary piece of technology that you just have to have. Ask me how I know.....:o

I guess I'm old fashioned then. I have a 60" projection in the living room and a 36" tube in the bedroom. They work great so no need to upgrade.

.... upgrade your cheap HDMI cable with Monster cables.....

please tell me you didn't mean that.. you can pay more for crap that doesn't mean it's better..

monoprice.com for all your cable needs.. do not buy hdmi cables in a store..

Circuit City...

The circuit city my me is jacking up the price's and then giving you 15% off the jacked up price. They call their scam "Liquidation" but its more expensive now then before they were going out.

Go to Best buy.

I've seen many people fall for it though. Monster cables are the biggest ripoff around..

I was looking for a big screen 13" but I don't know anything about that channel 12-83 UHF stuff. What's that all about, does that mean I can get 83 channels with it?

Na, get the portable B&W with a 4" screen.

Whether its Monster Cable or a Phillips at a fraction of the price, all HDMI cables have to meet a industry standard. Save your money. With that said I do use Monster Cable to feed my Klipsch loudspeakers from my Harmon Kardan amp. :D I'm still old school on sound. No 5.1, 7.1 whatever setup at my place... My Denon DVD player does a credable job through the Klipsches for movies. Oh, and I'm still hooked on my 46" Samsung DLP. 32" Polariod LED does a good job in the bedroom.

I just picked up my second LCD TV this weekend (not for the Super Bowl - just time to retire the old TV). Last summer I got the Samsung LN40A550 for my upstairs bedroom converted to media room. I liked it so much I got the matching LN32A550 for the living room this weekend. I had to get the smaller one because we wanted to keep it in a cabinet and don't want a big screen in the LR anyway. I really like these two sets. For the LR I replaced a 23 year old 26 inch NEC brand tube. I can't believe I got 23 years out of that thing with no service calls and it was moved across the country TWICE in moving vans. The picture was starting to lose some focus and making it hard to read graphics.
