Ok we have a lot of car guys here. What cars or trucks do you own that are 1972 and older. This is for cars that you still own.

I have a 1971 Ford F100 Ranger with 65.000 miles
1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt clone 427 4 speed
1952 Ford F1 pickup with a flathead and a blower. Not on the road yet.

I started this thread after seeing the 67 Galaxie and the old T Bird with 485,000miles on it. I bet we have some pretty interesting cars on this board that no one talks about!

You should get the VW out and running Dave. They are not only fun but get great gas milage. Then there is the chick magnet thing. The girls love them! Maybe Doom will get one and keep it in is trunk! :D

Bought this from my best friend's Grandma with 16,000 miles in 1977--perfect, garaged shape. My 2 teenaged daughters put 112,000 miles on it in high school and college--the car has 2 high school diplomas and 2 BS degrees. Never in an accident--all 4 fenders, grill, tail lites, all bright trim and both bumpers in mint condition. Interior original except front seat coushions. First week production number--# 4 of 48 in series. New original color paint and vinyl top--engine overhauled 20,000 ago. ALL numbers match and documented. Haven't finished detailing it out. It's judged as a 1.7 on the Hemmings 1-6 scale . It will be for sale when I finish it in the next few months--the girls can't afford to keep it:( Was awarded "Outstanding in Class" at Dallas Autorama. It's 318 cu in engine turns out 348 rear wheel torque--go figure. I'm having lots of fun showing it--will hate to see it go. Ain't old cars grand:)

fastblackmerc, years and years ago, I got a ride in a Yenko Stinger Corvair. What a really cool car. I was told that there were only a handfull made. He said that they came in 4 "stages" of tunes. He had the 220hp tune.
I don't know what the other tunes were rated at, but his was a very quick, great handling car. It was white with a blue stripe down the center of the whole car.

If for some reason I was to let the car go. I'll probably ask in the $15K-$17K range. From ebay auction's and offer's in the street, thats the realistic range of what the car is worth.
If it was a convertible then $20K-$25K. The car run's and drive's mint and the underneth was undercoated so its all intact.

What motor in the Galaxie?

jerrym3
02-09-2009, 10:16 AM
Galaxie has a 352-4V, 3:50 gears, automatic.

Motor has about 120,000 taken from a donor car. Still runs/rides very decent. Car sits for weeks and starts right up after some serious pumping.

500 XL bucket seats, console, etc came from a 2 dr hardtop donor. Converting from a column shift, bench seat car to a bucket seat, console car was a challenge. (Rear seat upholstry had to be cut down to fit the narrower convertble seat.)

Very lucky to find a 64 XL convert in a junkyard with good rear seat speaker chrome and a very decent dashpad.

Check the dealer paperwork on the 58. Little difficult to read, but they got $700 as a trade in on a 1950 Nash. (I know the thread is for cars that we presently own, but I just had to post the dealer paperwork. Sorry)

Just kidding, with the move, an uncertain future and too many projects I have to choose how best to manage my resources. I am currently trying to finish up an antique boat to have ready for sale by spring. After that, i will focus on completing a driveline swap in a friend's 70 mustang coupe. Then I can focus on completing the fastback. Then the Ranchero...

Beautiful car. The 62 is one of my all time favorite big Olds, along with the 1957 J2 Super 88.

As a kid, I had the opportunity to drive a very rare 1962, 2 dr hardtop, full sized Olds (not a Starfire) from North Jersey to Auburn, NY. It was a rare Olds because it was ordered as a 3 speed on the column.

I've never seen another 62 3 speed Olds, although, as a kid, I did own a 54 full size Olds 88 2 dr sedan, three on the tree.

My father has owned for about 20 years now a 1949 Studebaker Champion Business Coupe. Not the starliner, and had a backseat.... found production numbers and it is one of about 500 ever made witha back seat.

He aslo had a 1948 Stude' Champion but we parted it out and had to junk it

Still have both sets of Red GLASS tailights, and front clip from the 48. ONly difference between the 2 years is a horizontal bar in the grill.

VERY VERY hard to find any pictures of these cars, let alone one in general. Ill go through some old pics and dig some up.
