Makes me wonder if the lack of a supercharger on our cars is a blessing in disguise.

Ford's had so many problems with the 4.6L. The motor just has a lot of temperature problems with major beef-up. The Marauder is lucky because the motor is sitting in a big car. Lots of air through the grille, good cooling system. The Mustang presents a problem (especially with a super charger) in cooling with a smaller grille area and small cooling system. The Lincoln Aviator has had the same problem, only it's major issue was the intake. That 4.6L would burn up the passenger bank due to over heating and improper fuel balance. They solved that with a variable runner intake. 10 to 1 says the Stang gets a new intake and maybe a beter radiator. I'd pay close attention to your temp gauge memsrea...

I don't know if the Cobra's problem was just with the addition of the supercharger on it. Ford also delayed production of the Mach 1 which is the same engine 4.6L - just no supercharger on it.
Rumor has it the delay was due to the cars with the automatic transmission option in them.

The latest story, on BON, is it's to a vibration issue in the driveshaft....hmm that story sounds vaguely familiar..;)
CT,
The Cobra is not available as a automatic...that was one of the biggest draws for the Mach1 when it was first discussed. Plus the Mach1 gives you a solid rear axle instead of IRS to satisfy the drag racers..
