Lowering the front and rear end options?

I am curious to see if any of you have lowered the front either using the eibach kits or just cutting the spring and left the back end at the stock height. If anyone has done this and taken a picture, could you please post it? I am curious to see how the rake looks with the front lowered and the back at stock. Also, could you lowered all around guys post pics as well. Possibly share some stories of the install and how difficult it was? Thinking of lowering come spring time.

I cut one full coil and got 1.25" drop. The rear I lowered about .75" and it looks perfect. I originally wanted Eibach Springs but was steered away by a multitude of members. The front was a piece of cake, take out the coil-overs and disassemble them on a spring compressor and cut the TOP coils. The rear can be moved by slightly adjusting the ride height sensor. I'm thinking about the same thing, but I have 285/50/18's on the rear, and when the junk tires on the front wear out I'm going to put 265/45/18's on the front, then Eibach springs, and lower the back 3/4".

I've heard about the spring cutting.... what is so bad about the Eibach kit? Just want to make the right decision here

I have no experience but I have heard that the Eibach kit is stiff and jouncy. And pricey.

I have heard great stuff about from the CVN members about Coilsprings.com (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/Coilsprings.com)
They can customize your spring/rate and ride hieght to your liking. I know a few CVN members who paid around 300 for all 4 custom springs. Im assuming it would be cheaper since you are only need 2 new springs.

I left the rear of mine up for quite awhile but with the 20's and such a small tire it didnt look right IMO...so I took it down a bet.

Steve, thanks for the pics! I love the raked look! I wanted to see how it looked that way and I like it! I think that is the route I might be going! I can always fiddle with it if I don't like it right?!?!?

Any issues with the cutting of the spring? Do they wear out quicker etc?

You're welcome. The beauty of the air suspension is the easy change from a raked look to a slammed look. A socket wrench, and the ability to squeeze under the rear of your Marauder is all it takes.


I do recommend using a permanent marker to mark the OEM setting.

My Marauder's previous owner cut the springs. If they ever do wear out, I'll get a custom set from coilsprings.com.

The sensor that adjusts the height of the rear end can be "slid" back and forth to adjust the height be loosening two nuts. Left to lower, Right to raise is the way Zack explained it to me.

Cut it vertically, the same angle it is right now. Make sure the coil doesnt get too hot during the process.

That is what I was going to use and just go slow with it to not heat it up too badly! I think my dad's friend has a spring compressor in his garage so this really should be a 100% free lowering job! I may do just the front first and see how it looks and handles and if not satisfied, adjust accordingly.

Don't worry too much about the heat - the "whizz - wheel" cut-off tool goes through it like a hot knife through butter!
A wet rag wrapped around the "keeper side" of the spring close to the cut is over kill but added insurance.

AutoZone rents tools for free.

There should only be one nut to loosen on the back, the second one is just a guide.
