This is a step in the right direction for Ford. I'd certainly consider it when purchasing a car in the future.
However, the estimated pricing would appear to keep it out of its intended market.
You can tell exterior styling is based off the Interceptor concept car.

Take that mofo for a test drive!
I was really steering towards getting a G8 after the divorce but I will wait to see what kind of aftermarket comes out for the SHO. Nice turbo upgrade, FMIC, exhaust and tune should be purty nice.

certainly a step in the right direction but the fun factor for me is missing, a STICK SHIFT. I don't need no stinking paddles.

Front kind of reminds me of a truck....but....nice boost.....I think I will wait for the Flex Eco boost for my next vehicle
That price tag will kill it, IMHO.
Deja vu.
What is with the engineers of these cars?
How many engineers does it take to create the most fowl looking rear end? I REALLY DONT GET IT, how do these designs pass?

I have to agree...I am psyched that FORD is introducing some new performance cars and I will check out the new SHO...BUT that is one big fat misshapen rump!

365 HP will help me forget about the bulky looks.

Every car looks alike now-a-days.
Our Marauders look like well ok there is a reason for that, but take a look at a new design and you will see everyone else copy it.
I had a 2004 Subaru legacy, which looked alot like the 2000 Mercedes and BMW and Honda and ....
It could also be that the camry looks so good poeple buy them instead of Fords so if the Ford looked like a Camry maybe someone wuld buy a Ford...
You see how the logic goes.

I dont care what it looks like or how much the price is, I have owned 7 SHO's over the years amd it is something you have to love to own, the Marauders have always had the Panther platform to help it the SHO's have always been an underdog...the wife agreed that the new SHO needs space in the garage :) I cant wait!

I won't mind the paddle shifters if they aren't just gimicks - ie like moving the auto stick up and down. I want precision and snap when I hit the throttle, not the lag of an automatic. If its done right, I won't mind it at all, and that is saying a lot when you consider how adament I am about manual trannys.
Agree on the looks, though. Its nothing revolutionary like the first and 2nd gens were. This is more of a follower than a leader. Too sad!
PS
Is this based on the new big lincoln platform? Looks like it must be.

Marauder must go-go-go-go-go!!!!!! I'm gonna hit looowwww 11's or bust a nut trying!
At least I know what car I'll be driving once the Lincoln lease runs out... hope they still have this car in 28 months!!!

It looks like a cross-over with its 4x4 ride height, I thought MM's were high...
Also, flappy paddle gearbox FOR THE LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure fords will be just like everyone elses. You flick for the gear down. Wait 10 minutes then it happens. Same with the upshift. They went in the right direction on alot of things but that gearbox and the oval looks of it were downhill.
Also look at that price? Good god man! You can get a slightly used v10 M5 STILL under factory warranty for that price that could murder it.
Maybe when you get yours Jason I'll fall in love with em again. But as it sits my grumpy ass regarding SHO's is not impressed from my previous outings with them.

Yea I know you have had a bad time with the SHO's...out of the 7 I have had 3 of them where crap but might as well right. I will more than likely wait until the 2011 model comes out because I dont what the SHO to end up like the GTO's did and get the shaft on the first year model. Hopefully they will throw some more power at it, I can dream right?

Speaking of GTO's...my buddy Matt's, yea for a new rear dif/housing. 3500$!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes having an exclusive car made from exclusive parts is horrible, thats what scares me about another SHO.
Our MM's have tranny's from trucks and mustangs. The engine, in mustangs n' trucks. The frame/suspension? Cop car tested.
I mean the "beat-to-hell-ability" of MM's is just steller. They'll take just about anything we can throw at them, if they do break we can fix em easy.

Yea I dont think I would want to beat the shi7 out of another SHO, however the new SHO doesnt have anything from Yamaha so that will cut the price by about 75% I would think.
I am in love with the Marauder and wont be getting rid of it thats for damn sure. We will have to see how the availability work out with this one...hopefully they wont do what they did with the last SHO's and have a dealer mark up and then not understand why they arent selling any:mad2: Only time will tell I guess

The SHO to me looks very complicated and potentially expensive to maintain, exactly the opposite of the Panther platform.
But having said that.
The new Taurus is based on the Volvo S80 and it's a good and reliable platform.
(Many S80's are used as taxi's here)
And I would think the SHO has a Haldex AWD system and it's also very reliable.
But if it breaks then it's expensive.
The biggest problem for me would be the engine.
From what I understand the ecoboost V6 is direct injected, I'm not a big fan, just more complicated and expensive to repair. And more difficult to tune / upgrade??
I Sweden some people have a saying about the Mitsubishi GDI (gasoline direct injection)
GDI = Garanterat Dålig Insprutning (translated = Guaranteed Bad Injection)
And also the price is maybe a little high? Isn't it pretty much the same as a SRT8 Challenger??
2,4shofast

Yea the challengers are running at about $40K, but start thowing options on and it jumps up a bit but overall the price isnt much different.
Make mine a G8. Actually a G8 GXP.

FWD (or FWD based) Marauder?
Why ruin a historic name?
Also, it starts at $37K
The Marauder didn't sell at $35K. These (FWD) based cars will be fun when new, but when stuff starts to go wrong with them...GOOD LUCK!

So I guess the Taurus SHO V6 > 4V.
Its hard to get excited about a car when all aspects are not perfect. Especially for the 37k msrp.
The Marauder on the other hand received a 10 out of 10 the first time i set eyes on one

There's just something about it that I can't take it "serious" I mean, it looks like a crossover thingy wagon dohicky.
Edit, like the optional "sport pack" That'll jack up the price even higher...
The SHO WAS the optional pack. Now you get an optional pack to the optional pack...

I don't know about you, but I sure am glad the SHO will see production. I predict it will sell more than Mustangs will in '10/'11.

I see a single turbo conversion, a frount mount like Chris said, intake/full exhaust and a tune; should put it well into the 420-450hp range. Also too, I love how everyone dog's Ford when they don't build something we want, then when they DO build something we want, some pick it apart. It only took them 10 years to rebuild it, I'm sure they're not going to be heart broken because some don't like how the rear looks and that it has a "slow gearbox" even though they're not even out yet so no one can judge it.

I guess I'll just wait for the first reviews from the driver's seat. If we (and Ford) are lucky, then it will outhandle/perform anything in its segment on the market. That is how the original made its name, so maybe they are following hte same historical lessons. It may not have all the exterior boldness of the original, but maybe it will really work. Its the closest thing we North Americans have ever seen to an Ausie Ford on these shores.
Now, can that AWD drivetrain HANDLE 450-550 hp? If so, lower it, boost it, and enjoy!
Vortech347

One of the best parts of a good SHO was the 5-speed. Its one of the things the v8 SHO's lacked and discouraged alot of people...
A drivers car will always have a manual tranny.
Im gonna drive one for sure when my dealer gets one in stock.
Then Ill make the final judgement.

I'm sure it will. They have to know for a fact that people who buy these won't keep them stock for long.

I cant wait to beat on one of these SHO's when my work gets one in, im sure everyone at work will be driving the first one all over and it will end up as a demo on the show floor because it will end up with 3,000 miles on it lol. Im just gonna have to take it out myself and see how it feels :D
