Does the 21 cubic foot Marauder trunk take into account spare tire size?

How big is the trunk not counting the space of the spare tire?

Assuming a full sized spare.

Not sure where you got the 21 feet from in the first place, so can't answer your first question.

The volume of a cylinder is pi*h*r^2 so the answer to your second question is the true volume of the trunk minus the volume of the tire which would be about pi*(.75)(1.666)^2 ~ 3.14*.75*2.777 ~ 6.5 cubic feet.

Since my full size spare doesn't take up nearly a third of the true available trunk space, I think your 21 cubic feet figure does not include the volume occupied by a full-size spare.

Sorry it should be 20.6 cubic feet.

I thought it was 2/3pi*R(sqrd)*H.
for a 255/55/18
H = Height which is about 10.5 inches.
R = Radius which is 29/2 approx or 14.5 inches.
pi = ~3.14

2/3*3.14*14.5*14.5*10.5

or in feet

2/3*3.14*1.2083*1.2083*0.875=2.6 7cubic feet
or
3/4*3.14*1.2083*1.2083*0.875=3.0 cubic feet

I wonder if the subwoofer is taken into consideration?

I may be wrong. I'm off my meds today.

Great point. I overlooked this. I need to think about whether I have loose mags and cartridges or all of them in an ammo box.

I also forgot my survival kit, go bag, and zombie defense case.

Well in that case it would be 4 cubic feet.

sub about 1 cubic feet.

Changer fits in it's side slot so it take next to no space.

Without organizer.

The Marauder trunk must be about 15.6 cubic feet, which is smaller than a Phaeton or Jaguar.

I guess it is a cubic feet myth. Everyone else just doesn't count the spare tire area as far as one can deduce from this informative site in the non lounge section.

hmm I wonder how many others I can bring here to disrupt the groupies...

Who said Ford didn't rate the trunk's empty space with the spare tire and sub enclosure in place!
Big assumption on your part!
The NY/NY measure for trunk space is the # of dead bodies it will hold!

Chicago too! True story, this old old lady and her big son (also older) were looking at a towncar at the chicago auto show a few years back (the last major body change 2000ish) and she wanted to see in the trunk, when the lincoln guy opened it she looked at her son and said "oh, yup thats a 10 body trunk, nice and big"

Afaic, trunks come in 2 sizes: big enough, and not big enough.

If you can put everything you want to in it, it's big enough. Otherwise, it's too small. I think the MM trunk is too small, because I can't fit all 4 of its wheels in it, with the donut spare. One of them has to go in the back seat. This is a pain in the ass in fall and spring, when switching over to/from winter wheels.

The 'aero' panthers had bigger, more useful trunks. It's too bad.

Try again !!! four original rims and tires fit with the spare in place..?
