I didn't either.
2:48 in the video is when it gets going.
Near the end, old school stuff.
Seen them in concert twice and they put on a helluva show.

My od teacher spoke with Godsmacks original drummer, and he said he left the band because of no creative input. Sully writes all the songs and parts, and then shows them to the band. That is why he deserves more credit than he gets.

More like a duet than a battle. Fun to watch, though. Could have done without the tedious guitar backup. About four chords, max. Really grating after 8 minutes. Drums alone would have been more entertaining.
One of my favourite drummers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQQaCzZmKnU&feature=related
Dude's in his sixties now and he is just amazing.

Yeah, he looks pretty comfortable behind a set.
Search for anything on U-Tube that these guys have done. They are out of this world in person. Way creative, unbelievably talented. U-Tube doesn't do them justice because it misses half of the moves (or more).

This one really does them justice:

+1.
It was fun to watch that, but not overly out of the realm of possibilities seeing as how there were two drummers playing. I've been playing the drums off and on (mostly on) since 1989. Give me that guy's kit plus another drummer who equals my talent level and we'd keep up! (Humility, what's that? :D)
One drummer I've thought was fantastic since the first time I heard him was Daniel Glass of the Royal Crown Revue. Check this one out:

Yeah, John really starts to nail it about the 4:30 mark. Sure looks like he enjoys the drums. And man, can you imagine what his hands felt like after two minutes of beating the skins without sticks? Those rims were NEVER made to be slapped - not like the bongos. Those edges are brutal!
Sadly, I'd never heard of Daniel Glass before. Looks like one of the classic drummers. Sounds like a friggin god.

All this talk about drums, thought I'd toss the drummer in our rush cover band in the mix:

Granted my opinion is a little biased, but i think he's a pretty awesome technical drummer. He bases his style on Neil Peart, as one might imagine from being in a Rush cover band, and sometimes it shows through more than others.

Yes Sean he will always be known for being an amazing drummer, but I saw really nothing too special in his solo. He was known more for his antics.
I am fasinated with Carter Beauford, from Dave Matthews Band. While I dont love their music, he is phenomanal.
I saw Terry Bozzio live. I was next to his first bass drum on the left. He had 5 at the time I saw him. Front row. Most amazing 2 hours of music I have ever heard. It took his set up guys 30 minutes to just make sure all his toms were at the right pitch, then Terry checked himself.
Heres a sample of him...

Good God that's a large and pretty nice kit.
I play a more minimalist set...kick, snare, 1 rack tom and 1 floor tom...two 18" crash, a 20" ride, and 14" hats round things out. It came with other crap but for the stuff I'm into I can get by without it. Makes gigging WAY easier.

Yeah gigging stink, but it all fit in the MM. That was the great part. Both Bass drums on the rear seat, on blankets of course, rack toms on floor behind seat, floor tom in trunk with hardware bag.... left the passenger seat open.
My old set had one a 14" floor tom too, but was single bass.... I do mis it. Double bass sets are mostly for looks if you ask me. They make it harder to play intricate beats with hi hat accents, unless you have the remote hat mount... which I dont yet lol. I am headed out this week to get all clear bass drum heads, gotta see the feet move! lol
Thats my brother playing btw...

I have a single bass drum with a double pedal. I rarely use it but it does come in handy once in awhile.

I'm a mediocre drummer. I never could get down the odd time playing. But when I was in Jr.High and High School, I played in several bands with my father. They were all Banjo bands, playing music from the turn of the last century. What was then known as the Gay 90s (1890s) and Roaring 20s. It was Rag Time, Dixie Land etc.
We played for VFW Halls, Knights of Columbus, Volunteer Fire Depts., weddings, anniversaries.etc.
What was funny to me, when I was in high school, I had friends that were in Rock bands. They were COOL, playing COOL music. But there are so many rock bands trying to make a name for themselves the bands do not make any money. Even when they are playing the local clubs.
Me, on the other hand, I was making good money playing drums. I'd get paid anywhere from $40 in the beginning, up to $200 a gig for four hours. All of the gigs were parties. So we also got plenty of free food and drinks, and we'd take two or three breaks during the four hours.
I also noticed that on the rare occasion, when there were young people in the crowd, they tended to gravitate toward the drums, and hangout on my side of the band. So it led me to the conclusion that drums are cool no matter what the type of music. :D
So, even though I wasn't in a cool band playing cool music, I was earning cool money !
I haven't played in years, but I still have my kit. It is an old Gretsch set from around 1966 ( so I was told). Just a basic set, a snare, one bass mounted Tom, and a floor Tom, Zildjian Cymbals, one crash, one ride, and a Hi Hat. I forget the sizes, and I had a speed King pedal on the bass.

Sully was my drum teacher for awhile when he was first putting Godsmack together, he returned home to MA after his original band Strip Mine broke up. Godsmack is on there third drummer now. He is very talented but my hats of to guys like Neil Peart Phil Collins and John Bonham.

Any drummer worth his salt knows who Buddy Rich is. I remember seeing him perform at a high school when I was a kid. Me and about 4 of my drummer friends from school went. Amazing.
I've been playing since grade school, I'll be 40 this year if that says anything. :alone:
The silver set is my old Pearl set I got as my graduation gift in high school. The other set is my new Mapex Pro-M that I use in my band 3JC.
