To this day I still do not know what 401K is. It would be nice to have 401K in my bank account though. :D

17 years of faithfully saving as much as I could in that 401K and I am now where I was at about 10 years of saving...damn this sucks. Hey, it will all come back and then some, right.

Aw shucks...Why fret about it?

If you make lots of crappy high risk investments,
spend money irresponsibly and max out your credit cards,
buy WAY more house and property than you can possibly afford,
and then do nothing but complain about your situation....

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT will come to your rescue!!

So go ahead and act STUPID!

Hard working, smart, fiscally responsible Americans* will come to your aid!....:2thumbs:

Yep, I'm back about where I was 10 years ago. Only thing is I've contributed a whole bunch between then and now, so it's not just the growth that has been wiped out it's the growth PLUS new contributions PLUS growth of new contributions. No fear, Obama's going to fix it all by spending more money than I could count. Let's all pitch in and bail out the people who didn't live within their means and bought houses that they couldn't afford on double their salary. Might as well throw some cash at the bankers too, so they can have a big party in Beverly Hills or Las Vegas. Inspires a lot of confidence, I think Wall St. is really impressed with the new government's economic plan.

Wall street made this problem bigger than life.....

Who has been driving this market ?

Who drove it up, up and away.

Same sharks rats and badgers that are driving it to the depths of he11.

Do you not think the 'marketeers' have a plan, a goal? What they are doing is working exactly as planned. They are all getting exactly what they wanted.

I could go on and on for an eternity about all this. You will all read about this in the history books some day.

Don't you find if odd that the "market" did not want any gov't involvement in the market. Now all of a sudden it's "Save Us, were sinking" Keeping the gov't at arms length all these years. The SEC is bogus.

Moral of the story: don't entrust your hard earned money to any of these bastages. These institutions are the 'Big Brother' we were warned of. We all just misread it. Big Brother was watching al right. Watching every nickle and dime. (Yeah, a little paranoid I guess, but I am not wronog in this)

You ask who has has it all. Well, it's surely not me and you. Certainly not our government. Wall street has it. Packed up their ashes so tight, so tight I hope they all choke on it. Funny how, no matter if you and I loose it all, there is still one group who still earns. Yup, all those investment douchebags.

I had a pair of them at my house the past few months, three friggin visits. They just did not get it that I thought they were idiots. Guess they thought I was more an idiot than they. The advice they gave me was the most irresponsible act I have ever witnessed. Now, had I been less educated, or more naive, The may have been brilliant, and gotten all my $$$$$.

Another fine example of screwing over the next guy so you can profit. Until that right there stops, we are all taking it on the chin. (or up other places)

I could not have said that any better......
I just checked my 401k statement from 3/2007-3/2009 (-49.6%). I hate to say it, but I'm glad I have 40 years until I retire.
Looking at my 401k statement makes me feel better about my marauder purchase, my marauder's value has been pretty stable if you compare it to the rest of my investments.
